NYC teachers- district 29?
Anyone familiar with this district/teach here? Have an interview on Monday and wasn't too sure about the area!

What school? Feel free to FM if you'd like. There are a handful of pretty decent schools in District 29. Good luck!

I worked in Dist 29 (one of the high schools) for five years. I know the area very well. Great commute if you're coming from LI, esp the south shore. PM me with any questions.

I don't know much about that school, but Rosedale/Laurelton are generally safe. Parking should be painless. Predominantly Caribbean with some south Asian mixed in. Expect at least half of your kids will be free lunch eligible. Easy commute from LI.

I grew up across the street from PS135, although I didn't go to school there because I was in 6th grade when we moved to the neighborhood. I did however do observations there about 10 years ago when doing my undergrad. It seemed like a well run school.
The neighborhood is pretty safe. It's a mostly a mix of Caribbean, Guyanese and Indian people.
Bonus: the best pizza is a couple blocks away, Gaby's on Hillside Avenue. Check it out if you wind up getting an interview.
