How do you "mask" the smell?

Re: Those with pets .. And furniture
It's very hard to try to mask it so I don't allow my dog on the living room furniture. She IS allowed on the downstairs den sofa but I wash the slipcovers about every 2 weeks. I spray Fabreeze on the sofa between washings. I also sprinkle carpet fresh powder on the carpets before vacuuming.

Re: Those with pets .. And furniture
We have a steam cleaner and we steam clean our couch once a month. Between that I vacuum and febreze. On the rugs, I use carpet fresh.

Yup. We have 1 dog and leather couches - there's no smell at all.

Re: Those with pets .. And furniture
We bath our dog weekly, have a leather couch in the main living room and no carpet. We keep him off the couch as much as possible but he's a Yorkie and always wants to be on someone's lap so it's hard. If he were a larger dog he would not be allowed on the couch.

Re: Those with pets .. And furniture
Our dog is not allowed on our living room couches. I use carpet fresh on the area rugs, And febreeze on her dog bed. I only buy inexpensive area rugs for my boys rooms because that is where she spends the most time, so I dont feel bad tossing the rug if I only spent $50 on it.
I also wash the mats in front of the doors because she likes to lay there alot too. And when I leave the house I put my boys crawl through tunnels or laundry baskets on the couch so she can't sneak on while we are out!

Re: Those with pets .. And furniture
My big dog is the one who gets smelly, so she isn't allowed on the furniture. She has a bed in every room. The beds I buy her have a zip off cover that I can throw in the wash as needed. We also try to bathe her at least once a month. She's 100 lbs. of smelliness lol
We have all Hardwood with a throw rug here and there (by the doors), I wash as needed. The area rug I have in the living room, I put out on the deck over the railing to air out while I clean the floor and spray w febreeze while it's out there.
With animals, you have to be on top of the cleaning a little more often then someone without. Or else it will smell of dog in the house. Try to use White vinegar with your cleaning. It's a natural deodorizer so it doesn't mask the smell, it gets rid of it.
