DS has some off days from school the first week of November and the last week of January. These are random teacher days that the rest of the country does not get off so it should be low peak at Disney.
Would you rather do Disney or Caribbean in early November?
If we don't do Disney first week of November, we would probably do last week of January when DS also gets a bunch of random days off with also low crowds at Disney.

We were also thinking about doing Disney in January but although the crowds are low, a lot of the rides are close for maintenance and the weather could be iffy. I would prefer Disney in November. Puerto Rico also sounds amazing in November. I guess it all depends what kind of vacation you want. PR would be more relaxing but I'm sure the kids will have a blast in Disney as well.

The first week of November is "Jersey Week" and Disney is usually busy at that time.

I would do PR in January when it's colder in the US.

You'll appreciate the hot weather in PR more in January. Plus first week of November means you'll be in Disney for Food and Wine.
Yes, it's crowded that week but not completely insane. Plus I believe you've been a bunch of times so you'll have a good plan.
