If you had brown spotting in the first trimester, what was the cause?
I still have my brown spotting mixed with stringy mucousy parts and I'm still so nervous. Had an emerg sono yesterday and the baby is great and again, no blood seen in the uterus.
If you had brown spotting, what did it end up being? My RE is completely clueless about it. No cramping right now but it's just gross. Even when the girl did the sono, the whole tip of the probe was covered. I have to wear pads bc it's a constant thing at this point.

They never found a reason why I had mine. At that time I was on progesterone but not the inserts - so it wasn't that. They said just maybe some old blood (like scarring) and not to worry about it. For me it lasted till about 10/11 weeks. I know it freaks you out, but try not to worry, esp. with the dr. not finding anything and no explanation.

If you had brown spotting in the first trimester, what was the cause?
Mine was late 1st tri, from constipation and straining with the placenta previa.

If you had brown spotting in the first trimester, what was the cause?
No cause. Possibly increased blood flow to the cervix.

Re: If you had brown spotting in the first trimester, what was the cause?
First pregnancy I only had it once and that was implanation bleeding.
Second pregnancy I had low progesterone. Had to use the progesterone suppositories till 10 weeks. I also had partial placenta previa.
Third pregnancy I had a little a few times and all they found on the Sono was a pocket of blood where the baby had implanted. I was a little over 5 weeks when I got it. Never happened again.

Had some implantation bleeding initially (and didn't know I was PG at the time, so I thought it was just a short, strange AF) and then on and off brown & red discharge almost the entire first tri, due to running. I was supposed to run a 1/2 marathon at 11 wks (planned before getting PG) and I had to drop out.

Mine was more red and was caused by placenta previa and also a small clot in the placenta.

If you had brown spotting in the first trimester, what was the cause?
I had a subchorinic hematoma at eight weeks. The first doctor to do an ultrasound missed it- my RE saw it on ultrasound a few days later. It resolved on its own by 12 weeks.

Re: If you had brown spotting in the first trimester, what was the cause?
I had a LOT of bright red blood around 11 weeks - my OB was never able to determine where it was coming from. nothing on my cervix and no blood was on the sono.
At my 12 week NT scan, they saw a dime size blood clot. I started having brown spotting a few days after i found out about that, which i was told was the blood clot breaking up.
I was told that brown is OK (old blood), bright red and cramping is not. I too went through a lot of infertility treatments, so its hard not to worry like crazy, but try not to. And if you do, keep going to your dr. I called my OB about 1x a week for a while and have had several "emergency" appointments. thats what they are there for!!

Re: If you had brown spotting in the first trimester, what was the cause?
The only possible explaination the RE said is that as the baby grows, it pushes out the old blood in the uterus. My previous cycle before my BFP was a failed IVF and I was on hardcore progesterone so it's possible I had residual stuff in there. I'm hoping! Can't scratch these nerves. Had nightmares that I was bleeding last night. This is all so scary.

If you knew the nightmares I've had since preggo - last week I had one in which I was diagnosed with breast cancer DURING this pregnancy.

It is scary and its really scary when you've been through IF. I think that was what mine was from - so many previous months of treatments and prog. suppositories - residual blood. Just keep breathing and take it day by day. When it happened to me I trie dto tell myself if they are not worried, neither should I. Granter - I still freak out with cramps, even though everything is fine. So easier said than done I know!

If you had brown spotting in the first trimester, what was the cause?
With this pregnancy I bled three times in the 1st trimester. 1st time I had a full heavy period even after conceiving. Didn't even know I was pregnant bc of it.
2nd time I had an ovarian cyst burst and had bright red bleeding for two days. Went to the dr to have sonogram to check on cyst and that's when they saw the baby and that's how I found out I was pregnant!!
3rd time I had a subchorionic hematoma that I had some light brown bleeding for a couple days. It cleared up on its own though by 9 weeks.

Re: If you had brown spotting in the first trimester, what was the cause?
I had brown and some pink mucousy spotting from 6-12 weeks. Usually would last 3 days then 2 days w/out then it would start again. No cause for it really, my OB said it was common and at different weeks could be d/t different things occuring ie can happen when placenta burrows into the wall of the uterus, can happen as the fetus grows and pushes into the wall of the uterus etc. In fact mine said it was a good sign at 6-8 weeks because that is when the placenta should be attaching into the uterine wall to join the blood streams.

If you had brown spotting in the first trimester, what was the cause?
Dr. gave me 3 reasons. Old blood, subchorionic hematoma, or since there were 2 sacs and one was empty, that my body was getting rid of it.

I had red bleeding, and there was never a known cause. DS is 16 months old now. Try not to worry, it's very normal to spot throughout.
