Re: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
We just went in February and it was AWESOME! My son is a HUGE Harry Potter fan, so he just loved it!! As did my daughter). Everything is done so well. We ate lunch at Three Broomsticks and really loved the food. The frozen butterbeer was a huge hit also! You should know that they are opening the Diagon Alley portion which connects Universal Orlando and Islands of Adventure, so that will drastically increase the crowds!! It's a small area to begin with, so I would go during the off season.
It's very neat, but also know that the entire area only encompasses one small portion of Islands of Adventure. We had a lot of fun in the rest of the park also.
You really need to check out Orlandoinformer.com and they have touring plans and tips. We went the Sunday and Monday after President's week and the crowds were very minimal. I followed their tips and it made for an enjoyable visit.
I bought our hopper tickets (which allowed us to visit IOA and Universal Orlando) from USSSA for a great price.

There are a lot of things your 2.5 year old wouldn't be able to go on in the Universal Parks. There is a really cute Dr. Seuss area with adorable rides, but the height requirements were like 36-42" min. I believe. I would check the site!
