Music on the Belly...

For those that put headphones against your belly - how loud is the volume usually?

We did this for the first time lastnight and had the volume on the highest level against my belly. We got a bunch of kicks out of it, so part of me likes to believe he enjoyed it. Just now I'm reading that the fluid in there amplifies sound and of course freaking out and that we messed up his hearing or something.

I probably just need to calm down and just not do volume so high again and all will be okay.

Having a crazy preggo moment here...

I have to say this is one of ur funniest posts LMAO!
I am sure he is totally fine, its not like u had him in there being tortured listening for 50 hrs.
I actually never got any kicks out of that, but put the headphones on pretty low. Whatever level I am listening at work (somewhere between conversation level and soft so I can still hear when being addressed to)

LOL I do feel ridiculous posting it, but I just need a sanity check, because Google is making me feel like the worst person ever for having the music on high. Stupid Google!

LOL.. I laugh because I have a similar story. About a month ago, my husband had the hiccups, so I yelled super loud to scare him... and the babies started kicking up a storm, so for awhile I thought I made them deaf or something... LOL. I got over it. Google is the devil.

LOL. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Google really is terrible, as are all the stupid message boards that come up as results based on the question I have. Need to avoid those!

I refuse to google anything anymore. If I have a question, I go straight here or check my "what to expect" bible. I'm pretty sure my parents did this with me and my brother and we came out fine (our issues developed long after we came out Chat Icon ).

Okay this makes me feel better - from "What to Expect" ...We only listened to the music for about 35 minutes.

-----

A fetus' prolonged and repeated exposure to very loud noise — say, an eight-hour-a-day shift in an industrial workplace, where the sound level is more than 90 or 100 decibels (about the same as standing next to a loud lawnmower or a chain saw) — raises the odds of a baby suffering some hearing loss, especially at higher frequencies. Such prolonged noise exposure can also increase the risk of premature delivery and low-birth-weight babies. Extremely intense sound, 150 or 155 decibels (ever stand right next to a screaming jet engine?), can cause similar problems for the baby, although you'd have to sit in front row seats, next to the amps — and be at a really loud concert — to even get close to that intensity (you'll know because your own hearing will be fried).

Hubby is obsessed with trance and electric dance music. So it was nice and loud with lots of base.

Next time, we'll stick to Beethoven lol
