Twin Mommies - how often do you see a Dr?
I'm 16 weeks pregnant with twins and up until this point I had been seeing both my regular OB and the high risk monitoring group at NSUH every month (so 2 appts/month).
At my 16 week scan yesterday the hospital told me that I need to come back in 2 weeks in order to check my cervix length, then again in 2 weeks for my 20 week anatomy scan (which I did know about already).
Will I now be seeing two doctors every two weeks? It's getting really hard to juggle days off from work, and of course I want to save as much time as I can since I don't get any maternity leave, only short-term disability and then any paid days off that I have saved.
Also, while I only pay 1 copay for my OB at the first pregnancy appointment every time I see the docs at NSUH I pay my specialist copay, which is $50!

I see my regular ob every two weeks. I saw the high risk dr at 12, 20, and will see them again at 31 weeks.

I see my peri (Dr. Kofinas) every 2 weeks since the beginning. He sees everyone every 2 weeks though, whether it be multiples or singletons. I see my regular ob every 4 weeks.

Do you know what kind of twins you're having? If you're having mono/di or mono/mono twins they want to see you much more frequently. Mine are di/di and so far I'm been seeing my OB and MFM about once a month. I have no idea if that will keep up.
The other fun thing that I learned is that we get to have internals for the remainder of our pregnancies. I was all excited at my 18 week scan because I thought they were done, but no such luck.

Fraternal twins - each in their own placenta - so that's di/di, right?
I haven't gotten any internals yet. At my scan yesterday, 16 weeks, they measured my cervix with the sono. It was the first time anyone looked.

Yep, that should be di/di then. They're supposed to be the least risky type of twin pregnancy. By internals I mean internal sonograms. I still don't like them though.

Gotcha. I have only been getting the external sonos since my first OB appt at 9 weeks

They are most likely fraternal, but I think about 30% of identical twins are di/di. I always though 2 sacs and 2 placentas = fraternal twins, until I became pregnant with twins myself. Obviously if it's b/g twins it's fraternal or If you did IVF/fertility treatments it's more likely fraternal, but one embie could've split creating identicals. I think it's so interesting!

Wow, I didn't realize that di/di had that high of a chance of being identical. I'm having so I know mine are fraternal.

I know! Neither did I. Mine are also di/di, but I'm trying to stay team
