Disney planning
We are planning on going during spring break 2016...
How far in advance do I need to start planning? I haven't been in 10 years. Kids will be 5 and 2.

Re: Disney planning
I'm not a Disney "expert".... but honestly I would try to pick another week to go if its possible. Spring break is one of their busiest times, and I've heard of them actually closing the parks and not letting anymore people in- that's how crowded it gets!! Especially for your kids first visit, you want them to have the best experience possible, and not spend a ton of the time waiting in lines. I've heard the last week of august, right before schools start is a good time, or October. we just went the end of February and it wasn't TOO bad. once you decide when you're going and book, then you can start looking at restaurants and deciding where you might want to eat while you're there. you can make reservations 180 before. we didn't book EVERY meal, but made a few reservations. Chef Mickeys was a fun character meal. and if your kids are into Disney JR, there is a meal at Hollywood STudios park that has the Disney Jr characters (I found out about that too late, and didn't get into that one ) I've heard "Be our Guest" in Magic Kingdom is a neat place to eat, too. we also found that the parks get most crowded in the afternoon. so I would take a break for a few hours and go back to your hotel, and then go back at night. we did that with magic kingdom... rides that had a 45-60 minute wait in the afternoon were walk-on in the evening when we went back around 7/7:30 or so. SO much better!!

Re: Disney planning
Unfortunately my DH is a teacher so we have to go when school is out...I would rather go in April than August, we dot like the heat! In 2016 Passover and Easter aren't close in dates, so I think only schools up here have break then.
Thanks for the other tips....I'll mark my calendar for 180 days lol

How about February break? We have went twice during that time period and it was not that busy at all.

thats another possibility. Growing up my parents either took us feb break or spring break - but we like to ski and im nervous about snowstorms preventing us from leaving (that happened to a bunch of my friends this year )
