DOE ghi coverage question
Random insurance question for anyone covered through the NYC DOE.
My cousin was telling me about the panorama test (I've heard of other similar blood tests) which tests for chromosomal abnormalities and also can tell you the gender of the baby. Her insurance covered this test but she lives in Florida. Just wondering if anyone has had any of these tests done and it they were covered by ghi?
Thanks!!

DOE ghi coverage question
If it's the materna21, it's only covered if you will be 35 at birth and/or there's a strong chromosomal issue from family, etc.

DOE ghi coverage question
Thanks, I doubt it will be covered for me, I'll be 31, my uncle's first child was born with Down syndrome, but we have no history if it in my immediate family.

Re: DOE ghi coverage question
If your not 35 or older…they won't cover it…and its VERY expensive otherwise (I have GHI)

I don't have GHI, but just wanted to say that I'm in a similar position. I have a first cousin with Down's and was 30 when I had my first and will be 33 when I have this one. Both times I was told that it's not a close enough family member to be of concern. I don't plan to do anything other than the NT scan and really don't worry about it at all.
