Smells!!
Ugh 9w6d, smells are really bothering me!! The smell of food cooking at home, the cafeteria at work, food people heat up in the office, people on the bus/train. I can barely take it.
I didn't have this during my 1st pregnancy. How long will this last!!

Re: Smells!!
I still have a heightened sense of smell from my first pregnancy...and DS is 3.5 y/o.... It definitely died down after I gave birth, but still more intense then pre-pregnancy....
Good luck

for me it isn't so much heightened sense of smell as distorted sense of smell. foods that normally smell amazing to me (like my meatballs or red wine) make me wanna yack. And forget about cigarette smoke - which I had quite over a year ago, that's something I'm crazy sensitive to.
I will say that having my MIL in the house is getting stressful now that the construction is at a standstill. She loves to cook but the smell is throughout the ENTIRE house and made me yack this morning when I got out of my bedroom. She made this beef stew last night (without asking me or DH - and it was DH's bday and he wanted buffalo wings, but whatever) and I couldn't eat it - it was so fatty and just so oily and beef is like the last thing I want to eat unless it's a nice piece of grilled steak.

Sorry you're going through this too!! Someone is eating something a few cubes over and it's making me so nauseous just smelling it. I need a nose clip!

I'm finding between acupuncture and the seabands that my nausea is kept at a minimum, compared to what I was expecting. But certain smells def set me off! Like whatever my mil has in my house right now, I can't even go into my basement it smells so funky! I just told DH that we need to tell her so that she will stop.... But I'm sure then she'll start to try to force feed me traditional Chinese foods for pregnancy, most of which will likely make me yack more.

Re: Smells!!
I had it my WHOLE pregnancy. The only thing that changed was that once I was out of the first tri it didn't make me gag as much .
But good LORD I could have gotten a side job as a drug sniffing dog.
My sense of smell was out of control! In fact that was my first symptom.
Once my DH was in the bathroom in our bedroom. Down a hallway, behind not one, but TWO closed doors, and I smelled the air fresher he sprayed all the way on the couch in the living room.
It was awful. Forget it on a train. AWFUL.

I had it in my last pregnancy and this one, too. Jess, I had the same thing, aversions. Coffee and cinnamon smelled like a dirty zoo to me. Now, it's baby poop. I smell it ALL over. Garlic, too. I love garlic, but the fact that I can smell it anywhere makes me want to scream! I can also smell B.O. from a mile away now

We have a tech (who is actually a doctor in Turkey, but a tech here) who does testing in the office on Fridays. I cannot stand Fridays now. He wreaks of coffee and constantly reheats his cup in the microwave throughout the day.
I love the super sense for nice fragrances, like the wonderful smell of freshly cut grass - that's been hitting me strong lately and I'm loving it.

Smells!!
I'm almost 5 weeks and when I went to the cafeteria at work today (they were serving pizza), I gagged. I didn't anticipate this being a problem this early, and so far it hasn't been, but oh wow I ran out of there so fast!

Re: Smells!!
With my first, loading the dishwasher was my worst nightmare bc of the smell so DH had to take that over for a few weeks. So far, smells really haven't bothered me. Maybe I should fake it!

It's not even just smells that I can actually smell, it's the anticipation of smells. Like walking into the kitchen at work, even if it doesn't smell, the idea of what it has smelled like, makes me gag.
