Take Home Outfit
This may seem like a silly question but...are there any requirements for a take home outfit? I'm due June 20 and have absolutely no clue what I'm supposed to look for!!!!

No requirements. I picked something cute and warm since I was due in March.
I'd pick something easy to put on since they're so little and you have to watch out for the umbilical stump.

I just put DS in a sleeper. I didn't want to deal with putting something over his head.

Not true. If that was the case then you wouldn't be able to put them in Sleepers
Put them in whatever you want.

There are no requirements BUT a simple one piece outfit is probably most comfortable for the baby.

Most stretchies have buttons down the front and they do not interfere with the umbilical stump at all. They are the easiest to get on and off.

No requirements DD was a late June baby, born in a heatwave. She went home in a onesie and matching hat set. The nurse said she was glad I didn't over dress her. IT was like 95 degrees out the day I went home.

Thank you all for your replies. Of all things to be overwhelmed with, this is giving me a ton of anxiety!!!! I got something at Denny's as part of my layette but I don't love it. If you have pictures to post I would really appreciate it.

I would not go all out on an outfit personally. The nurse didn't put on his diaper tight enough and he peed all over his outfit within 1 hour of me putting it on him...

Bring different sizes! I only brought 0-3 months pants and my son was a lil peanut. His pants looked ridiculous because they were so big. I had to roll them up three times. Thankfully I brought a newborn onesie, even though that was big on him too, it was better than the 0-3. The little snowsuit I brought for him, forget it. The legs could be tied in a not, his toes didn't even reach the leg holes lol

Re: Take Home Outfit
Something easy and comfortable. A onesie, cotton pants with a hat and socks. Something like that. Though you might not even need the hat. Maybe bring a very light blanket with you as well. Both my kids came home in Newborn clothes. Newborn was actually big on them. My boys where 7lbs 11oz and 7lbs 3oz. I always see people post that newborn clothes are a waste of time, but you have to have a pretty big baby to not need newborn for a few weeks. Just in case you where wondering about sizes.

My son was 8 pounds 4 ounces and wore NB clothes home. People always told me NB clothes were a waste but at ~3 weeks old he is still in them. I actually had to go buy some more since I was doing laundry like every other day.

DD is 10w and still fits in some nb clothes!! 0-3 is still a bit big on her.

YES! I needed MORE newborn clothes. She was 7 lbs at birth and just so teeny. 0-3 would be swimming on her. She wore newborn for over a month!

Thanks again for all the advice. I'm going to go through everything I got at my shower and see if anything works...if not, it will just result in another trip to bbb.

Something easy and cute for the take home pic! A cute onesie or sleeper and a light blanket. DD was over 8 pounds and wore newborn clothes still for at least 3 weeks. It's worth it to have a few outfits!

This isn't true AT ALL. I had my kids in Carter's sleepers that zipped up from the get go and it never affected the cord stump.
ETA - As for the take home outfit..........buy whatever you think is cute and appropriate for the weather at the time he/she is born.

We usually just get the cute little Carter's sets that have a onesie, pants and zip up. They usually have socks or matching booties as well as beanies too. Practical, and they can wear it again.

Everyone thought I would have a big baby (including my MIL who made a very rude comment to me a day after I had my son via c section) but I had a ill peanut at 6lbs 3oz. I too had to buy newborn clothes because nobody gave me any!

Re: Take Home Outfit
No requirements. Jus think about the weather at that time. A onesie, hat and matching blanket seems like enough. If you think you will have the ac blasting then maybe something with pants.
