Dr. Question

I just found out I'm pregnant and I'm looking for a new doctor. A friend of mine gave me a recommendation, so I want to schedule a consultation with this doctor, but I'm not sure what to ask. I really just want to see if I'm comfortable with this doctor before I get far into my pregnancy. Any suggestions of questions or what to talk to her about would be helpful.

Since this would be the doctor to care for you during your pregnancy it's important you are comfortable with them. BUT just bc this is your dr doesn't mean they will be the one to deliver your baby.

Find out how they feel about inductions. How long will they let you go before inducting you.

How many drs are in the practice. What are their hours and availability. Are they on call 24/7. Do they have a dr on call at all times. Do they have a 24/7 answering service.

How many of their doctors are on call at the hospital. Which hospital are they affiliated with. It's important they are delivering at the hospital you want. If they don't deliver your baby, are you guaranteed one of the drs in the practice.

What tests do they do during your pregnancy. Some push you into invasive testing that you may not want or be comfortable with.

Dr. Byrne in Garden City. I live over an hour away and go to see him because he's just so wonderful! :)

Small practice but wonderful and accommodating. He doesn't rush at all.. they are open until 9pm too work around schedules. I have have 6 different obgyns and I cannot say enough about him.
