Florida Sandpiper vs Bahamas
I would like to plan a vacation with our 8 year old -has anyone been to BOTH and can tell me the pros and cons of each?
I heard great things about both - I am guess FL would be cheaper.
Would love Atlantis, but heard it is $$
We are looking for just 4 nights to keep cost down.
thanks

I wouldn't discount Atlantis. You can get good deals certain times of the year. This past Nov. we brought our sitter and we like to stay in the Coral towers. She was on the same floor as us and, actually 2 doors down, and we paid $99 a night you just have to add the tax to it. She had a king size bed, but you get 2 doubles.
Also, if you stay at the Comfort Suites which is right outside the entrance of the Coral towers, you have access to ALL of Atlantis. A friend of mine did that when she went with us. She was able to get a bigger room and it was more affordable and she said it was nice and clean and I think it came with a continental breakfast.

Wow - that is great - do you have to "sneak" in Atlantis or are they affiliated?
Is Coral Towers near the kids activities / pools, etc ?
thanks :)

As pp stated, Atlantis has a wide range of room prices.
You get a wrist band to access the water parks. We always flashed our room key and we were fine.
Coral/Beach Towers has most of the kid stuff. We would walk back and forth between the aquarium, kiddie pools, movie theater and other kid activities.
eta: We had an amazing time at Atlantis this past winter. I have looked into Club Med Sandpiper many times and we always seem to go elsewhere.

Nope, no sneaking, you couldn't even sneak in if you wanted to though, Atlantis is pretty strict. I guess it is something set between the hotels.
Each Tower has the own pool but we always went to the big Splash pool which is right after Royal Towers. It was probably a 10 minute walk from Coral towers. The kids never seemed to mind the walk either. If looks very far on a map though. They also have Jitney's that go from tower to tower.

Thank you all - with Atlantis did you do all inclusive ? I heard it is worth it, the food is very expensive?

We didn't do the meal plan. I think we spent around $300-400 per day on food. We did a mix of casual and upscale. We would do starbucks/buffet for breakfast, poolside grill or similar for lunch and then Nobu/Mesa Grille type places for dinner.
