First time flying with DD..

and I have so much anxiety!!
This is our first trip as a family (DD is 14 mo)and we are flying to West Palm. We got DD her own seat so she will be nice and comfy but I still am so anxious!
-Is there any advice you would give to a first time Mom traveling?
-I plan to bring her stroller but do I check it in or do I bring it on the plane?
-Am I allowed to bring snacks from home on the plane? I will feed her milk before we leave for airport.
-What should I bring for her to keep her busy?

and OMG I have so much anxiety about changing her on the plane!

First time flying with DD..

You cannot bring a stroller on the plane so you will either have to check it or gate check it. I usually gate check.

Just bring snacks and a favorite toy and a new toy. Its a short flight so it shouldn't be bad. My DS has flown about 8x now and he is fine.

Give her a bottle or sippy cup at take off and landing to help with the pressure. You can fly with liquids through the checkpoint if it's for the baby and in reasonable amounts.

You can gate check the stroller. I leave DS in it until were about to board the plane, then fold it and give it to the attendants.
Yes you can bring snacks, but I wouldn't suggest bringing liquid bc they will check it, which takes time. I usually buy milk or water once I get to the gate.
Bring lots of snacks, crayons, coloring book, stickers. Anything to keep them busy. It's a short flight so it shouldn't be that bad.
Oh and when I flew to FL I just didn't change Ds's diaper. It was a short flight, luckily he didn't poop because I was dreading taking him into that bathroom!!! GL!

Relax it wont be bad. You can gate check your stroller which is great as you might need with before you board your flight.
You can bring any snacks you want. You can buy juice or water when you go through security. If you wanted to bring a cup of milk or bottle of milk they are not usually that strict going through.
Download movies or games onto your phone or ipad as it always comes in handy and bring any other little toys that will keep her occupied. I have a small case i carry on with all snack and games for the kids along with a change of clothes if needed. But you have a short flight so it should be easy. If you change her before you get on the plane she should not need to be changed until you get off. When flying to Europe overnight i do this as i figure they would be sleeping in bed 12 hours anyway without a change. DD is not even 1 yet and has been on about 10 long flights and DS has been on 14 also and it really is not that bad.

Re: First time flying with DD..

First off it's not that long of a flight so that's good. As others said you can gate check the stroller. Makes it easy to push her through the airport. We have a gate check stroller bag for the stroller to go in. It's not necessary, but I have seen other strollers get banged up so I feel better about it.

Lots of snacks. I usually go to Target and get the small bag of goldfish, Annies pretzels or the gummy candy. You are allowed to go through security with 2 water bottles bc you're traveling with a baby. If not then go get milk, water and whatever at the stores after security.
Ipad (we have one in the otterbox my boys to play with) you can download shows and movies on the Ipad.
Put her in an overnight diaper in case you don't get a chance to change her for a while. I also put them in comfy clothes and layers. Sweats and a tshirt and sweatshirt over that. I keep a change of clothes in a backpack with the diapers, wipes, purell wipes, plastic bags for dirty diapers bc flight attendants won't take that.

ETA - I know some mentioned crayons. I like the travel doodle and bring washable crayons bc they write on everything. DS winds up dropping them so I don't bring much. Put it in a plastic container so they stay together and I used it on the beach too.

DD was 13 months when we took her on her first plane ride. We had stuffed animals, toys, books, ipad, goldfish, nutrigrain bar, and dole mandarin oranges. (Our flight was about 3 and half hours.)

Like others said, you will have to gate check your stroller (we used our UppaBaby umbrella stroller and got one of those red gate check bags). DD was left in it until we were walking onto the plane. Once on the plane I asked the flight attendant to fill up her sippy with water.

I changed her in the airport bathroom right before boarding began and then again once we landed. (On the way home I changed her on the flight.)

The first time seems like it will be stressful, but it's not!

Best advice someone gave me....

Don't give the bottle until the plane is ACTUALLY taking off.

This!

Also I generally rent a CARES safety harness off of Ebay. I don't like bringing the car seat on the plane and the harness helped my son stay more relaxed with out the bulk of the carseat. GL! You'll be fine :)
