Another third trimester sleep issue and question

I know sleeping on your (left) side is best. But when I sleep in my bed since about week 29 I get up in a panic as if I'm suffocating. I already use a pillow between my legs, blanket to support my belly and a wedge pillow to be slightly more upright. I take 2 tums before bed to prevent miserable nighttime heart burn. I have started eating dinner earlier and smaller meal. I'm drinking lots of water, vegetable juice (for sodium and potassium since my BP has been on the low side), orange juice and 1 cup of coffee early in the morning. I am using a prenatal yoga video before bed which definitely relaxes me.

Unfortunately I got another cold. This time with a cough and chest congestion. I saw my OB yesterday she doesn't love mucinex for herself but she said taking that or robitussin is fine. She warned me that mucinex could exasperate the sleeplessness so I'm only taking it once a day in the am. I coughed so bad yesterday I pulled a muscle in my tummy... OUCH!!! Nasacort has helped tremendously with the sinus issues. I plan on staying on that for the duration.

Sunday night I tried sleeping on just about every bed and sofa in my house. I finally passed out on a reclining chair (leaning somewhat left till I got a cramp Iin my left hip) in my den. Last night I started out in bed. Started coughing and felt the suffocating feelingand pulling on my belly. I went back to the recliner and slept for a few hours until body parts I was leaning against cramped then I would move and fall back to sleep. I'm a freaking train wreck.

My question is, since I'm pretty much on my back in the recliner, is this a safe way to sleep? I do wake up with pain in my hips and my tummy feels so tight but I feel baby move. I'm not sure what else to do.

I believe you can't sleep flat on your back, however reclined is fine.

I am mostly very uncomfortable on any of my sides so I sleep on my back. I keep propping myself up, so I am basically currently sleeping at a 45 degree angle. even the baby seems to be more comfortable this way.
As long as ur not totally flat I don't think there is that much issue sleeping on ur back. but I guess ask ur Dr if she has any issue with it.

I am almost 33w and am more and more uncomfortable with each day so I totally feel ur pain, tho thankfully I am not going thru what u are - sounds awful. I hope u will finally find some comfy positions and have much needed restful sleep Chat Icon
