If you have a Composite Deck...

Would you do it again?
How's it holding up?
Lots of cleaning?

How's it holding up? Structurally holding up fine. Don't like the mold problem, or the fact that it faded so much.

Lots of cleaning? Need to remove mold with chemicals at least twice a year. Mix it up, spray it on, a very light brush and rinse.

ETA:

Even though we have to spray/brush twice a year, it is still much easier than the staining/sealing/sanding we had to do with the wood deck.

I just hate the term 'maintenance-free'. To me, maintenance free doesn't mean it would have a mold problem that needs to be corrected.

Corte Clean is the best mold remover - you have to purchase online.

My parents have had it for 5 years no and they have no mold. Theirs is light so it hasn't faded. Holding up great and I know they would def do it again. My mom washes it down with the hose every so often..

I think the biggest negative is that it gets really hot. Very hard to walk on barefoot.

Re: If you have a Composite Deck...

Personally, I have a regular, old wood deck. So I can't speak from personal experience.

But as a real estate agent, I will say that buyers definitely see a trex/composite deck as a plus over a wood deck. I think -- maintenance or no -- there is the expectation that it will hold up better over time, it looks better (to most people), etc. So I think it's desirable from a resale standpoint, if that is entering into the decision-making at all.

We have a composite deck & the only thing I don't like about it is the mold. We use Corte clean to clean it. It takes the mold of and it looks good after. This is what the company recommends to clean their product. You can get it at Lowes or Home Depot. I forget which one.
