Food/milk schedule for 1-year old
Hi! If you don't mind sharing your food/milk schedule for your one-year old. Thanks!! I have been nursing at 6:20, then breakfast at 7:45. Nap at 8:45. I am curious what everyone else does.

Food/milk schedule for 1-year old
When my DS was one he had 3 meals a day at the normal Breakfast, lunch and dinner time.
Milk was only in the morning and before bed. He drank water any other time during the day.

Ok. Thanks for responding! Did you do snacks too? Did you feel pressure to give milk during the day?

I don't give him milk during the day because too much milk is not good and my DS has anemia and milk inhibits iron absorption.
As for snacks...some days yes some no. I just go by his cues. He is 2 now and still follow the same.

Re: Food/milk schedule for 1-year old
When DS was 1 I started giving milk as a drink and not as a meal per say. So he had a sippy of milk with breakfast and lunch usually. Dinnertime was water. I also gave a sippy of milk with a snack before bed (like a half hour before).
As far as snacks I usually give him something after he wakes from his nap, and some fruit before bed.

Food/milk schedule for 1-year old
my DD wasn't a huge milk drinker (she still isn't) actually she really isn't a big drinker so I just offered her milk and water though out the day. she at her 3 meals at "normal" meal times. and I also would offer some snacks though out the day

Food/milk schedule for 1-year old
At a year I was nursing 3x a day: morning, after her nap around 3 or 4, and before bed. She had breakfast, lunch and dinner at typical times (8, 12, and 6 ish). I started transitioning to soymilk at 13 months and offered a sippy many times a day bc she rarely drank much. I tried before her nap, with meals, etc. She gradually drank more and I cut nursing sessions until she was weaned at 16 months.
Eventually we settled into a schedule and it still works well now at nearly 2. Wake and milk around 7. Breakfast around 8:30. Lunch around noon Dinner at 6 Milk before bed around 8.
She occasionally has a granola bar or other snack mid morning but usually just if we're out running errands to keep her occupied. At home she rarely snacks bc I prefer she eat meals than snacks. If she has a snack before dinner, she won't eat.

Thanks! Your schedule is similar to mine. How is your child's weight. I am always torn about snacks because I want my son to feel hungry. He is not a big food seeker, so he eats better when actually hungry. He is in the first percentile, so even though he is totally healthy, I always want him to eat as much as possible.

I get you on this one. My DS is in the 5th and I just weighted him and at over 2 years he is 23.4 lbs.
I used to worry but now I just let him eat what he wants and some days you would think he never ate before because he won't stop eating and other days he picks at his food. As long as the Drs says he is ok I just go with it.

She bounces around typically 25-35 percentile. I always stressed about her weight from the very beginning as a first time mom bfing and now with a picky eater so I totally understand. I was below the 5th percentile throughout my childhood and was perfectly healthy. I stress less now that DD is older but it's still frustrating to put your kid to bed when they only ate a few bites of green beans for dinner and push away the sippy after a few sips of milk. I let her eat the same few things for breakfast and dinner and she eats big meals then. At dinner, she can scarf down a whole piece of pizza and a bunch of veggies and other nights she barely touches her food. She doesn't wake up starving in the morning so I'm learning to let it go. I used to let her have a veggie/protein pouch or something else if she didn't eat but now she gets what she gets and that's it. She crept up on the charts at her 18month appointment so we'll see how she does at her 2 year appt next week.
