We never used anything unless they were red, and then we used small amounts of Triple paste.

Vaseline at every diaper change. Diaper creme only if rash

Vaseline in the very beginning so it doesn't stick to their tush. Once their bowel movements are no longer black and sticky we used nothing unless she was red. If she got a little rash we used triple paste.
