weighing your baby
Does anyone weigh their baby between dr appointments? Since my DD is on the small side, EBF and doesn't particularly like solids, I just want to make sure she is gaining ok.
I have tried getting on my scale and then weighing her, but if I do it twice in a row, it can vary by a full pound or so. When DD is only 15lbs a pound difference can be a big difference.

do you mean you get on holding her and then get on alone and subtract? if not - do that.

Does she gain ok at each well visit? If so and dr isn't concerned I wouldn't bother. My girls have been in the 4th percentile since about 2 mo when they finally made the charts and I never weighed them. They have been on the same curve and dr was never concerned. The way you are doing it is the only way I can think to do it on your own

If the doctors are worried, they will arrange for you to have a weigh-in between appointments. That happened to us when dd lost weight and had no gain across 3 appts. I did not weigh her at home. I feel like my scale gives me 2 numbers if I type on and off trice in a row with just me, so I didn't trust it for her weigh-in!

do you mean you get on holding her and then get on alone and subtract? if not - do that.
My scale is digital. It registers a weight and remains at that weight for 30 seconds and then goes back to 0. So I would still have to weigh both of us and then step off and then back on again. If i do it twice my weight both our weights are off.

If the weights are off between stepping on and off the scale it is an issue with the scale. Is it possible the floor is slightly uneven where the scale is?

I used a fish scale for DC when they were little... 
I would zero out the scale with the car carrier, then put DC in the seat and weigh that. It was pretty accurate... 
Of course, that assumes you have a fish scale at home.

I just bought a baby scale at buybuybaby. Can't tell you how accurate it is since we haven't opened it yet. It's the red cross one.

ITA. When I was really concerned at one point I scheduled a weight check myself. It was all in my head and DD was doing fine. The doctor calmed me down and explained that they carefully determine how long they give between scheduled visits. He basically said the next visit is always soon enough to catch any issues before they become a big problem. If they were concerned, they'd ask to see you sooner to check the weight themselves.
