SUV DVD setup
Has anyone purchased a DVD system for their car non-factory? How does it work? Does it need to be installed? Are there wires/cords all over the place?
Is it possible to have one of the screens on the headrest of the middle seat for my 14m old DD who is rear facing?
Any suggestions on systems/specifics models would be greatly appreciated!

This is what we have. An old portable dvd player that we attach to a cardboard box and seatbelt next to DD who is rearfacing. It wouldn't be ideal for everyday use but we do it whenever we're traveling and it works great. Although if you have one rf and one ff I'm not sure that would work.

Do they charge or are they battery operated? I could just use our iPad I guess but I liked the idea of having 2 screens - one for each child!

It has a battery but we also have a converter that plugs into the lighter since we use it for long trips.

They have portable DVD players that either come with two screens (but only one player, so both DC watch the same thing), or you can get two players that are able to connect to each other, so they can either be used separately, or connected and both display the same DVD. That's what we have.
