are my newborn photographer requirements unrealistic?
I'm looking for someone that will charge under $300 and I'd like to get all the photos on CD. That's it. I did a search on here and even the reasonable photographers recommended seem to be more than that. Any recommendations that meet my requirements?

A lot of photographers put something like 300 images on a disc and I think editing them takes a big chunk of time
Maybe if you requested less images they'd be able to charge less?

Kelly from All Seasons Photography meets these requirements.
She provided a full CD of all images taken during the photo shoot. She will edit some favorite images (not sure of how many - you would have to ask her). As for cost - I believe she is near or under what you posted.

I used her for DD 3-years ago when she was starting out and plan to use her again for DS.

I don't mind if they edit 15-20 and put those and the unedited pics on a disc. I don't expect them to edit every single picture.

They will make you pay even more for unedited... if you can find one crazy enough to give that stuff to you.
You might be able to work something out to get like 5-10 edited for a cheaper price.

Re: are my newborn photographer requirements unrealistic?
My husband is a photographer and he doesn't usually release unedited images, reason being that newborn shoots are hard and you usually take hundreds of images and there are a handful that are perfect and a lot of them that are awkward. If he sends less than perfect images, and then people share them, it hurts his brand, kwim? Most photographers are very careful about what images of theirs are released into the world, because of sharing, social media, etc. I think you will find most photographers are going to want to release edited images to you.

Thanks! That was a great explanation. I think I was confused because the last photographer I used for a newborn shoot gave me 60 images on a CD and I thought those were all the pics she took. In hindsight I now realize she had a lot more than that and she must have weeded through them.

are my newborn photographer requirements unrealistic?
I could not afford the prices of some of the photographers that are suggested. I looked on Craigslist and found a photographer who was starting out. The photos were fantastic, she came to my house and was super easy to work with. The cost of the shoot was $100 and I received 20 color pics and 20 b&W pics on a cd. She had sent me a few teasers the next day and I received the disc within a week.
It was a chance that I took that it would work out but it did and I saved a ton of money. I spoke with about 20 photographers that I found on Craigslist before choosing this one.
Also, DS was closer to 10 weeks old when we had the photos done since he was in the NICU for 7 weeks. But it was still considered a newborn shoot.

I'm a newborn photographyer and my sessions are under $300 with a disk of apx. 20 digital images with print rights.
No professional photographer will give you unedited images. It's not the proper representation of their work.
