St. Lawrence the Martyr Baptism
Anyone get their babies baptized at this church? Do both parents have to be catholic? I'm Christian and my boyfriend a catholic... We aren't married yet... Will this be a problem?

Re: St. Lawrence the Martyr Baptism
There is a new pastor since I was last a parishioner there (almost 6 years ago), so hopefully things have changed for the better, but based on prior experience St John Nepomocene in Bohemia or Our Lady of Snow in Blue Point may be more welcoming and understanding of your situation.

They are very strict with godparents - both must be catholic and have to provide documentation of sacraments, but only one parent has to be catholic. They also do a home visit, where someone comes to your house and talks to you about the parish and baptism. I've never heard of anything like that - kinda crazy, but it's our parish and we dont believe in going outside it for convienence, though I strongly considered it, and can see why others do.

Re: St. Lawrence the Martyr Baptism
No, both parents do not have to be Catholic. And you technically only need 1 catholic God Parent who has made all of their sacrements (baptism, communion, and confirmation), and documentation. The other god parent can be a Christian witness if not Catholic.
And they def won't give you a problem about not being married yet.
Eta: there is a new baptism coordinator in the last 3-4 years.
