Has anyone been to the NY Aquarium recently?
Thinking of going this weekend but I'm not sure if its worth it!

Has anyone been to the NY Aquarium recently?
The one in Coney Island? I heard that a lot was ruined by Sandy. I think most of the outdoor tanks are not in use, and there is not as much inside as there used to be.

Very true.
I went in October & saw everything in less than half an hour. We spent more time on the boardwalk than at the aquarium.
Once the work is completed...2016 I think it's going to be amazing, but until then it's not worth the trip.

Not worth it until they build the new area and rebuild. It was really destroyed in sandy. It is open but I think only about 20% of it is open.

Even with the membership. I looked at what was open and the building next to the entrance you enter and go down is closed, I think the shark/ray/turtle tank is closed and the large building where they had the touch tank/jellyfish etc is closed, as I think the 4D movie. Only the entrance building with the huge tank, and the outdoor area where the penguins, walruses etc can be seen (read you can see them outside but cannot go into the building). That is a long trip from Nassau even with the membership. Shame we were huge aquarium fans and went 3-4 times a year with the membership.
