What NOT to bring to the hospital?

Regardless of having a c-section or vaginal birth, are there items that should not be brought to the hospital? For example, are you allowed to even have any jewelry on when having a baby? If not, I'm wondering if valuables like engagement/wedding rings should be left at home? Also, is it safe to bring other items, like an iPad, quality camera, or a good smartphone? I wouldn't like to have any items "stolen" so any advice as to what not bring would be very appreciated.

What NOT to bring to the hospital?

I had a vaginal birth. The only thing I took off jewelry wise was my watch and a bracelet b/c I had an IV in my wrist. I kept my earrings and necklace on. I haven't worn my rings in months due to swelling in my fingers. I had my iphone and ipad with me the whole time I was in the hospital (5 days). Never once was I concerned that someone would steal my stuff.

i didnt bring any jewelry with me. I did bring my phone, my cameras. I felt safe leaving them in the room but you really never know so just use caution. also be careful what you leave in the bed. When they change the sheets they just take everything off they arent checking for iphones in them .

Leave the jewelry at home. I didn't think about it the first time and wore my rings, I was told to take them off and my husband wound up carrying them in his pocket for 14 hours. I was never concerned with anything being stolen. I brought my camera and other items with me both times before. Your stuff stays with you, when you move to post-partum you take your stuff with you. It pretty much never leaves your sight.

What NOT to bring to the hospital?

Leave jewelry for sure but had my phone and Ipad..DH would bring the good camera back and forth...also, try not to bring too much..turns out, DH was told by nurses to take my small suitcase home so we were selecting items at 3 AM before he left that I needed before he returned the next day..this time, I am taking a bag instead and seriously editing..

What NOT to bring to the hospital?

I wore a necklace through my 17 hours in labor. I brought my iPhone and iPad to the hospital. I did not use the iPad but never worried about it being stolen. I packed a small suit case (carry on size) with clothes for four days incase I had a csection. I left the suit case in the car until after the baby was born then DH brought it to my room. I end up using nearly every thing I brought.

What NOT to bring to the hospital?

I had a lot of swelling so we bought a gold band for me to wear 2 sizes larger for my pregnancy. I kept it on the entire time. I left the rest of my stuff at home per their request. I had my Kindle and lap top with me and it was fine. I never worried at all, but at my hospital you have a private room as well. I packed my bag like I was going away for the weekend except I didn't bring all my make up or nice clothes lol. Just comfy pj's and a comfy outfit. I did bring things for him and it was nice to have him in real clothes and wrapped in his own blanket. I also brought my portable fan and heating pad with me. So glad I did that!

I wore my necklace and earrings the whole time. I had my iphone with me and just kept it by my side. I never left the room, so I felt safe with my stuff.
