Sick, is there anything I can take?
I've been suffering since last Wednesday. Started as a cold and it has now gotten worse. Haven't slept in days because of the congestion. The coughing is painful. And my chest hurts. Should I call my OB? I don't have a primary. Unless someone can recommend a primary in Huntington, Woodbury, plainview areas.

I would call the dr if the coughing is painful, you might have bronchitis in which case they can give you antibiotics to help clear it up.
For congestion, you can take PLAIN Sudafed. I know you aren't suppose to, but in both pregnancies I did use Afrin. I just couldn't take the congestion at a certain point, it was beyond awful, so I did use actual nose spray for some relief. You can also try Halls cough drops, it might help with the cough and the menthol will help clear up your nasal passages a little too.
This might sound a little silly.......but it helps. Whenever I get a cold I use the MEDICATED Chapstick around my nose. It keeps my nose from getting all chaffed when I'm sick and constantly blowing my nose plus you breathe in the menthol from the Chapstick and it really helps to clear you up a little too.
Feel better!!

Sick, is there anything I can take?
I had similar symptoms a couple of weeks ago. I was being stubborn and refusing to take anything over the counter for relief until finally I ended up in my OBs office since I don't have a primary. He told me I needed to try some over the counter stuff ASAP before it progressed into bronchitis and a sinus infection. He OK'd sudafed as well as mucinex. I went with mucinex since it matched my symptoms more and it really helped me within 1-2 days. I wish I had taken it sooner. He also recommended cough drops, saline spray and/or neti pot.
Hope you feel better!

Re: Sick, is there anything I can take?
I would be careful taking Sudafed. I did that during my last pregnancy and my blood pressure significantly increased and caused some issues. My OB recommended I take Benadryl instead and when I was sick recently, this is what I took and it helped.
If no primary, go to a walk-in clinic to ensure there is no infection. If no infection, try regular Robittusin (no CF or DM, just the regular stuff) for the cough, saline spray to keep your sinuses clear and take Benadryl.

i wouldn't do the Sudafed either and just stick with regular Mucinex, Robitussin, cough drops, Vicks Vapo Rub, saline spray.
Definitely go to a dr in case you need the antibiotics. They take a little bit to work but definitely help. I've had bronchitis, strep and a nasty sinus infection where it was needed.

Re: Sick, is there anything I can take?
go to urgent care and/or talk to your OB. I had a horrible cough lasting almost 2 weeks. Nothing worked and it thankfully wasn't bronchitis or pneumonia. My OB ended up prescribing me robitussin with codeine which helped some but honestly not much.
