looking for ob/gyn who deals with moms with arrhythmias
I have several different heart arrhythmia including SVT. With my 1st son, my ob/gyn was sort of clueless as to how to treat me. I'm def more high risk now. Not preg yet, but want to investigate a dr who is comfortable with moms with cardiac issues. TIA!

Re: looking for ob/gyn who deals with moms with arrhythmias
I've been a patient of Dr. Marc Harvey for years. With my first pregnancy (3 years ago) I developed V-TAC. My cardiologist Dr. Donna Marchant and him were in contact throughout my entire pregnancy so I would have to recommend the pair.
This time around they also like to know what the other is thinking. And because of my experience Dr. Harvey now has other patients of his seeing Dr. Marchant for other cardiac issues.
One positive/negative depending on how you look at it is that Dr. Marchant's office is in the hospital I'm delivering at. Great b/c she's right there when I'm going to need her. A bit of a hassel for regular check-ups.
Good luck!!! FM me if you have any other questions.

omg DW has this too ! this is why we are going to cardiologist. can I ask (here or FM) if you are able to continue meds during pregnancy and if so which you are on? there's only one shes not allergic to! we r nervous she wont be able to do both, and therefore ill have to carry. (not optimal but ok too)
also- any eastern Suffolk suggestions for obgyns?

Re: looking for ob/gyn who deals with moms with arrhythmias
My first pregnancy I was able to take Sotolol without any problems. This was the third drug I had tried so I know there are options for pregnant cardiac problems. The first two didn't do what we needed.

I had surgery for my svt, but I still see my cardio at at Francis (dr hoch/dr Schechter), and my regular ob. I did have a full cardiac work up including a monitor before getting preggo, and they did have me "consult" with a doctor at LIJ where I'll deliver, but other than that I've been fine.

I had 2 ablations done by Dr Levine in the same practice - neither one cured my SVT and instead left me with a whole host of different issues....

Re: looking for ob/gyn who deals with moms with arrhythmias
I too had two ablations done but with Dr. Stuart Beldner who is the electrophysiologist that works with Dr. Marchant at NSLIJ. The first one was a few months after my first son was born. They knew they hadn't gotten everything quite right but wanted to give my heart time to heal before doing a second. When I went in for a second they said I was fine and they didn't do anything.
Hopefully with my second pregnancy (at 31 weeks now) nothing new will crop up. So far so good. I go Tuesday for a check-up.
All my issues started surfacing with pregnancy #1 at 32 weeks so I'm starting to get nervous.
Good luck to all!!

looking for ob/gyn who deals with moms with arrhythmias
I'm late to the thread but I have a who,e host of cardiac rhythm issues. I used to see Hoch/Levine/Greenberg (sadly, I just heard that Dr. Greenberg passed away) but then switched to my amazing EP doc --Dr. Kanner at South Nassau Hospital. He used to be at North Shore Manahaset but left to take the head EP position at South Nassau.
I credit him with my ability to conceive and carry a baby to term (well, almost--I delivered at 35 weeks). He worked very closely with my OB and my high risk OB and was at my delivery as well. Didn't need him really, but it made my OB feel better!
I has ablations done with Dr. Kanner and he still follows me for arrhythmias and other autonomic issues affecting my HR and blood pressure. I have a pacemaker for my BP dropping issues and bc of his willingness to explore options, now have one that catches my BP drops so my syncope is very controlled.
Good luck!
