Safe, Lighter Alternative to Snug ride 35
Wondering if anyone had positive feedback on another infant carrier besides the Snug ride 35 (Graco).
I swear it's 15 pounds without my DS in it. Then when you add him, it is 30 lbs.
Obviously one with great safety ratings too.

No matter which one you look a they will be all be heavy. My dd is 20lbs and I'm still carrying that thing.
Maybe stay with the one you have and just leave it in the car

I got the original snugride, the one that goes to 22 pounds, mine is the Platinum. My first DD was in it for over a year. Honestly, I never understood why people wanted the heavier snugrides, by the time your child is 30 or 35 pounds there is no way you want to carry him in an infant seat.

I would leave it in the car unless you absolutely had to take him out with it. IMO its not worth spending the $ on another infant seat.
If you do decide to get another infant seat just keep in mind that ALL seats that are on the market have to pass the SAME safety standards. So if you buy a $40 seat or a $240 seat your child is going to be safe. Yes, there are companies that go above the minimum testing but that doesnt necessarily make them any more safe.

I am totally with you! However, before becoming a mom, the heavier one sounded like the best idea in the world. Now..not so much!

They are all heavy. To my knowledge there is not a lighter one on the market. The only lighter one I know is the graco snug ride that goes to 22lbs. Not sure if they still make that though. I just bought a new infant car seat for my third child due in June. I was between the graco seat and the Britax. The Graco advertised as being a lighter car seat then others. It was much lighter then the Britax.
It's not easy but I kept my boys in the infant seat till 11 months. More for convince. It was heavy as anything but as they got older, I used my snap and go everywhere I could instead of carrying the seat.

As far as I know all infant seats are about the same weight. It's not like you will find one that is 5 lb and even if there were you would have the same issue when he's 20 lb. We used ours til about 20 lb. Rarely carried it in unless they were sleeping and needed that nap. We just left it in the car and took them in and out.

I wouldn't buy one of the smaller ones though. It's a waste of money cause they will grow out faster.
A convertible is perfectly safe for a 4 month old but if your not ready to move is just leave the carrier in the car and not use it as a carrier.

I got this one too. I will say that my DS had to get out of it at 9 mnths bc of weight (big boy lol) and I wished I had gotten the one that went to 35 bc at 9 months I would have preferred him in the infant carseat, the convertible was so big for him.

I got the snugride click connect 35 because it's the lightest infant seat on the market. It's 7.5lbs and the snugride 35 classic connect is 9.4lbs. They are all heavy...my son is 22+ lbs so I rarely use the seat in the carrier function, I just leave it in the car.

They still make the 22 pound snugride, they have it on display at BBB and it is lighter than the 30 or 35 pound one. The weight of it It has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with convenience. Of course, it depends also on how big your child is. Like I said, my DD was in it a little past her 1st bday and she could have been in it longer than she was.
