Sick-urgent care/walk in clinic
I have been fighting a cold all week and I think it's progressed to a sinus infection and I am coughing so much that my abdomin actually hurts.
Not sure if my pcp is in today, but if not I was thinking abt going to one of those walk-in clinics...i am skeptical abt going to one of those being preggo and all...thoughts?
Does anyone think that all this coughing is "bad" for the baby???

I don't think it's bad for the baby. If you're that sick it's better to go. But the waiting room is filled with coughing/sneezing people. Just sit away from them.

Re: Sick-urgent care/walk in clinic
i had a horrible cough and went to urgent care. they weren't very helpful though bc they didn't want to prescribe anything to a pregnant person without approval from my OBGYN. i ended up getting a prescription from my OBGYN for prescription strength robitussin which actually didn't help much.
be careful with the coughing because i ended up hurting the muscles in my back which is a huge pain.

Re: Sick-urgent care/walk in clinic
Thanks guys. Fortunately I was able to get an appt with a dr at my pcps office. Unfortunately he couldn't prescribe me anything because it wouldnt meant prednisone, which he said wouldn't be prudent. At least I know I don't have bronchitis or an upper respitory infection...although I am still coughing a lot. Trying to drink a lot of water and tea....hopefully I will feel better tomorrow....

Did they test you for the flu? I was very very sick a few weeks ago and we found out it was influenza A. Horrible chest cough, wheezing, and very tired. I had tamiflu, amoxicillin for an ear infection as well and pro air for the wheezing. I also had presc. robatussin with codine so I could control the cough. If you're not better in a few days and didn't get the flu test I would ask for it. Tamiflu is most effective the 1st 48 hrs, but it will still work. I was 9 days into it when I finally got tested.

No, they didn't test for the flu, but I don't think I have it anyway. No fever, aches..just stuffiness and a cough. So annoying.
