Anyone with NYSHIP Empire and GD?

did you have insurance coverage on your supplies? My pharmacy told me that they couldn't get a straight answer from the insurance company.Chat Icon

they said the glucometer was covered, but the testing strips / lancets were not (or atleast they couldn't find one that the insurance company would approve. Although the insurance company also wouldn't directly tell them that there was no coverage. she tried submitting like 5 different brands and the insurance company rejected them all).

I'm so confused and kind of upset because I don't want to wait so long to start testing. But they are telling me that 100 strips are over $150 out of pocket Chat Icon

in the meantime, I have DH's uncle's old glucometer and expired strips (he passed away a few months ago and we had it in the house), but the dietician today told me the expired strips aren't accurate.

I don't have your health insurance, hope you can get a straight answer from them soon.
If you need to get supplies on your own, there are some cheaper kinds at walmart (although I don't know how accurate they are). Also, the test strips for your monitor are probably cheapest on Amazon or at Walmart.

I have the Empire Plan. Is that the same?

I called the insurance company number on the back of the card and they advised me I couldn't use a pharmacy to get my supplies, that I had to use (I forgot the name of the company), but the insurance company transferred my call to them and I explained what I needed, who my Dr was, they confirmed my insurance information and shipped the supplies to me. I called on a Friday and had the supplies at my door step on Monday afternoon.

maybe try Edgepark Medical Supplies (look online for their site). I don't have your insurance but this is who I had to go through to get my supplies. They weren't 100% covered b/c of my deductible so $210 was paid out of pocket but it still beats full price for everything.

Thank you girls!!!! I spoke to insurance this morning and after getting bounced around a bit, I have to go through Liberty Medical. They are fully covered, but said I likely won't have everything until the end of next week.

That is the name of the company I have to use! They state to you over the phone 7-10 days, right? I got it in 3 (Fri order, Monday they delivered the big box)! You can pick up a few days supplies at CVS to carry you over till the supplies reach you. They have them OTC by the pharmacy.
