Re: Pregnancy in your late 30s
A little different for me because I got pregnant with my first at 35 (by choice) and had her at 36. So I didn't have other children to worry about the age gap, etc. But in terms of the worries, yes I had them, but I think I would have at any age. I am a terribly nervous, anxious person by nature (see my screen name! ) and to me pregnancy was the scariest time of my life. I worried about the baby, I worried about my own health etc. I did opt for an amnio for the peace of mind and it was the best decision ever.
I know women well into their 40s who have healthy babies and younger women who have issues, so I tried not to let my age worry me so much.
And FWIW, I had a perfectly healthy pregnancy with no complications and a textbook labor and delivery.

Pregnancy in your late 30s
I had my ds at 38. He was my first. I had issues but were not related to age. I did have an amnio also and I also think it was a great decision.

Pregnancy in your late 30s
I am a first time mom so I do not have the age difference issues to Consider but I got pregnant shortly before I turned 37. I was considered high risk due to other health issues but I had a very "normal" pregnancy. My OB told me through out my pregnancy that the majority of older moms do NOT have any issues. Try not to stress.

Pregnancy in your late 30s
I got pregnant at 38 but will give birth at 39...to twin boys! So far my pregnancy has been relatively normal. I am high risk, but all my genetic tests came back with the same risk as a 20 year old. At this point I have not needed an ammo. I am just over 20 weeks.

Pregnant with my first at 38. Everything was fine. Normal pregnancy. Not high risk. I did deliver at 28 weeks though. No one knows why. It just happened. When I get pregnant with my next I will be high risk for that reason. I will also be at least 41 when I get pregnant again.
Side note - my mom had me when she was 20 and my brother when she was 36. No one in netween. Just happened that way. My hubby's brother is also about 20 years younger with no other siblings.

Pregnancy in your late 30s
Me and most of my friends had our first DCs around 28-30. One of my friends had her first at 37 and out of all of us she had the least complications in her pregnancy.
ETA: I think the 5yr age gap is perfect. Congrats!!

The 5 year age gap was really nice....and i guess with my middle one i will have it...again lol. My oldest is so excited to help so I think the age thing won't matter to them! To my husband and I we will see!

Re: Pregnancy in your late 30s
I had my DS at 38.
I had nothing outside of the standard tests, I refused an amnio.........I saw no need. I had a healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy and DS was born perfect.
My kids are exactly 4.5 yrs apart and I actually love the big age gap. My DD took to him right away and has always been a big help. It's been a great experience so far.

Re: Pregnancy in your late 30s
I turned 40 in September and found out I was pregnant a week after my birthday - very unexpected. My older 2 are going to be 6 and almost 5 when the baby is born. My older 2 are only 14 months apart. I definitely worry about the gap but yet I also think it will be easier than if I had the third baby closer to the age of my youngest. The 2 under 2 thing was very difficult, glad now my other kids aren't babies. They can even help and their excitement has gotten me through some "dark" moments. I didn't have an amnio I had something called Verify. It's a blood test that they separate the baby's DNA from the mom's and they can find out the same info. I think it was about 99% accurate. I was told if anything came back bad, I should have the amnio before making any drastic decisions and there can be false positives but everything came back fine except one test they did on me that says I'm missing some chromosomes and should be infertile. Considering this is my third baby and unplanned at that... I don't worry too much about that. You can discuss all this with a Genetic counselor. I went to North Shore. The counselor was very nice.

Got pregnant & had my 3rd child @ 40yrs old. Perfect uneventful pregnancy & delivery. My 1st child is 12 & my 2nd is 6. The age gap is perfect & I have them to help me. I planned the age gap I was not the type to have kids back to back (I would've prob gone insane). Wish you a happy & healthy pregnancy!!
