is Southwest serious???

Ugh! So the dates I need for my summer vaca opened this morning. They opened at 7 am - I go on at 7:30 and they have 2 flights already "sold out"?? And their times are just horrible. AND they are charging $188 EACH WAY!??!! Isn't their whole company based off 'we dont assign seats so we can have cheap flights" ??

Sorry - had to vent!

Re: is Southwest serious???

It's all a matter of perspective, I guess, because I booked our airfare on Southwest this morning, and their prices were lower than the fares I had seen on any of the other airlines, and I've been stalking them for weeks. The $188 for one way didn't bother me so much, because that was the LOWEST I saw on Jetblue for any of the times that I wanted to fly, and now Jetblue is ridiculously higher. I still think that the overall airfares are really high for flying to Florida, but I was anxious to book.

Re: is Southwest serious???

They are not as cheap as they used to be.

The cheapest fares are usually only allocated to a few seats so sometimes they can be gone in literally minutes.

It stinks because with all the mergers and cutbacks on flights there is less inventory and that always means higher prices when the same people compete for less seats.

The cheap flights are never on the day the schedule is released. It's usually a month or two out. I just found flights for end of March the other day for $109 each way to FL.

I was planning on waiting but when I saw 2 flights were already sold out - I was too scared to wait then have to take a lay over flight.

I would buy it and then when it drops lower, at least you can get the credit and the lower fare!

Same here, the prices are so much higher than last summer for the same exact week and the times are horrible.
I have to book though as soon as they come out as we are going on a cruise and there is only one flight there and back that works with the cruise.

If the prices go down, can you get the money back????

You don't get the cash back, you'll get a credit that has to be used within 1 year of the original purchase date. The credit is non-transferrable - it can only be used for a future ticket purchase for the person named on the original ticket. It also can't be applied to Early Boarding Check In.

Us too!!!!!

Ive been waiting for today to book our flights. And by the time we got on, we lost out on two flights. I was not paying $400 ONE WAY for four people.

We cut our trip back two days bc of it. Chat Icon

Yup. I checked the prices this morning, and my flights were already "sold out" for the lowest fare. Glad I bought seats yesterday.

Same here! We usually wait to book, but DH checked and 2 of the 3 direct flights were sold out, so we just bought. That has never happened! So we booked at a higher price, ridiculous. Hopefully we can get a credit back.

I heard it was like this for alomst all their flights that they just put out. I seriously wonder what their end game is here? Do they really think people are going to pay these prices to fly on their airline to Orlando??

I just checked out their FB page and after reading some of the comments it looks like SW is taking away a whole bunch of direct flights! They are pushing the layover flights more
