How are your kids able to leave?
My school requires photo ID that they copy and keep on file and only hubby and I can list acceptable names and naming them still requires a photo ID first.
Now I wonder if there should be a required permission first.

So Grandpa didn't know he had the wrong kid??? Wtf is that? SCARY! ! And what about the the list of adults that are authorized to pick up the child?? Someone def dropped the ball on this one.

I heard a very similar story from a friend about a school bus picking up the wrong child (same name mix up).
The mother of the child pulled him from the school.
Innocent mistake, but after hearing that, I was happy it wasn't the preschool I picked!

I babysit for a girl after school. The 1st few times I picked her up at school, I had to show my ID. They would check it against her form that her mother filled out. To be sure I was on the pick up list. I don't need to show it now since they all know me.
But when I picked up a friend of hers, I had to show it again to check against his form.
Even though they knew me.
And it makes perfect sense.
I don't know what the procedure is for this particular school. But it's obvious it needs to be changed. This could've had a very different ending. So scary!

I can't believe they just brushed it off and she had to push harder. Id be a basket case!
I freaked out recently because my uncle has been visiting her daily for lunch. They do not notify me. Why? Because he is an employee of the district. I have no reason to doubt him or worry about him and she adores him. They sit together and she eats while he talks to the staff (only way she'll eat). But what shocked me was he was there THREE TIMES and neither my daughter or the school told me! I calmed down when I realized I had put him on the list (DUH!! I forgot since its been months and he never came by before)
Id lose my mind if someone other than the list walked out being with my daughter's list!'
eta: they capture and save your photo here and print it on your pass that they make you wear (sticker). No photo id? no pass, no access past the front desk.

If you aren't the parents, they should check the list every time, even after they know you. What if the mom had your name removed from the list, and the person handing over the child didn't know that because they didn't check?

I go to the front office. They call the child down and she is walked to the office by an aide. There are only 2 women in the office besides the principal. Everything goes through them. If my name was taken off. They would know.
