Airport scanners....safe?
So I'm going away for my first anniversary coming up in march and now I was wondering about the body scanners in the airports... R they safe??? I'm in my 1st trimester ...just didn't think of it until now ....

I went through the regular and declined the new body scanner.
You can decline both and then just get a pat down.

If you tell them your pregnant they'll let you use the old metal detector.

They wouldn't let me just go through the metal detector. I had to do the pat down. Wasn't bad at all and took maybe an extra 5 mins between waiting for a woman to be available, having her explain the procedure, and getting the actual pat down. I commented after both times that I had just been felt up by the nicest TSA agents, first at JFK and then in Orlando lol.

I didn't think it was too bad. Both TSA agents explained what they were going to do and then again as they were doing it. Everything is over the clothes but they do go under the bust, around the butt, across the crotch. But very gently!

I would opt for the pat down. Those new scanners would scare me especially in the first trimester.

Oh I know. I've already done it. I also got a very thorough pat down bc I was traveling with formula!!

Airport scanners....safe?
they say the new scanners are safe - however every time i flew (last pregnancy and this one) i declined the scan. sometimes the agents were nice enough to just let me go through the old metal detector but many times i had to wait for the pat down. i dont find the pat down bad at all though

I was told the body scanners had no radiation but I went through metal detector at JFK anyway. Pat down at LAX.

ITA w/this. Afterwards felt a bit cheated for no "pillow talk" 
when I declined the machine they didn't even ask me why just called over the woman TSA agent to pat me down

Anyone can decline the machine. I almost did recently (I'm not pregnant) but decided I wasn't in the mood to be groped by a stranger. If I were pregnant I wouldn't go through the machine personally.

Anyone can decline the full body scan. My MIL does it because she doesn't want people to see her naked

That's what I'm scared of ...is that in a couple months they will have this whole big thing on the news saying ...oh the scanners r not safe anymore ...it's always something and it to the truth I do t trust anything at this point ...I mean look at all the crazy crap that happens at airport ...nothing is safe ...it's all a bunch of crap ...lol

I never went through them while ttc and while pregnant. I just had the pat down. Only once did a TSA agent give me a hard time. It was in New Orleans and she just kept harassing me for not going through and telling me she went through it all the time pregnant and her baby is just fine blah blah blah.
