Anyone live in a town house with kids?

Dh and I are house hunting. We were very against looking into a town house. Our realtor convinced us to look at brand new ones. They are beautiful and dh likes the idea of little yard work. I never envisioned us living in a town house. It's much more affordable because of the tax difference than a detached home. We would have more money at the end of the month which would be nice. I just don't know if living with kids in a town house is ideal. No real yard to play in sort of makes me sad. It has a nice playground and pool but it's different than a play set in our yard.

I do! We do have a high walled patio. There is a park in our neighborhood. The kids actually love it. Its 5 floors, so their playroom is on the top floor, their BD on the 4th floor, ours on the 3rd, kitchen LR and DR on 2nd, then Laundry and garage. We have lots of storage in ours, but Id be worried about that mostly. We have no yard maintenance

I rent a townhouse and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. When we buy, we want to look into a townhouse for sure.

I live in a condo and we LOVE living here... DC have a playground, tennis court, pool etc... They have made best friends that they wouldn't have made if they lived in a regular house. Our friends always say it's like a college dorm for kids. There is always somebody around to do little things with. We don't mind not having a private yard. We have plenty of grass outside to play in. We're actually trying to move soon and it's so sad bc we don't want to!

We do! Three kids in a townhome..we love it. It's about 2200 sq ft, three levels, finished enormous basement and just a great home.

However..with that being said..there are certain things I do wish we could change and we will be seeking a single family for our next (and hopefully final) move. we want a bigger yard for the kids to play. We have a small deck right now, and while it's fine, I do wish we had a yard. BUT...we have so much around us (parks, fields) that it's not the biggest deal. The other thing is the neighbors on one side..they have an 11 year old with some emotional issues and he screams at his parents every single night and goes into rages. If our TV is off, we hear it..and my boys get upset sometimes by it. Usually we don't hear a thing from neighbors, its only recently this has been a problem (she has apologized to us cause she must know how loud and awful it is).

Aside from those two issues we have loved loved loved our home. It's nice, spacious, low taxes (we live in MD) and a nice low mortgage which has allowed me to be a SAHM for these past 8 years :)
