From working mom to SAHM back to working mom?
Did anyone do this? After my first dd I worked part time for half a year then full time for a year then have been a stay at home mom since having my second dd. they are 27 months and 7 months. Anyway I am trying to decide whether to go back to work part time next year or not, I'm a school psychologist. I love staying at home with my girls but it's been really hard for me, but at the same time the idea of leaving them bothers me too. I'm so conflicted, and so I'm wondering if anyone has gone back to work after trying out the SAHM thing. Tia!

Re: From working mom to SAHM back to working mom?
I went back part time when my twins were 5 months old (two 8 hr days a week). I felt like it was the best of both worlds. I got my mommy time with the kids and my me time working on my career. Unfortunately I was laid off from that job when my girls had just turned 1 and I have been home with them full time for over a year. It is HARD and I missed making money myself. I just started another job this week that is very flexible and is only 10 hrs a week or so and some of that time can be working from home. I am hoping this will be a good fit for me.
My career is important to me and to still have my foot partially in the door gives me hope that someday I will be back out there full time.

Re: From working mom to SAHM back to working mom?
Well I stayed home the first year and then went back and will stay home next year when #2 arrives.
I hated leaving my son, though he was with family. I wanted to stay home with him but didn't want to give up my position (guidance counselor) so like you I have great hours and plenty of time off, so I AM a SAHM sometimes.
I started my son in school last month (he is almost 2.5) and he LOVES it, he is SO happy at school that for the first time I do not feel bad going to work.
Looking forward to spending the first year with the next baby and then plan to return to work, again can't risk losing my position...it is what it is and it all works out. I enjoy work but I miss my kid, I think most working moms feel similar

Re: From working mom to SAHM back to working mom?
with DS1 I went back to work FT for 3 months, when he was 7 months I went pt (3 days a week) then I was laid off when he was 17 months. Well he is 6 and I have been a SAHM all this time. But I have been conflicted over this same thing for a good 2 years now. What has kept me home is my guilt for DS2. Basically I had been home with DS1 I felt like I owed it to D2 to do the same.
HOwever I would like to find a little something at some point this year. I honestly just miss having something that is just mine and feeling like I am more than just a house wife/mom.
Good Luck with your decision...

Re: From working mom to SAHM back to working mom?
Thank you all! One day I'm going back and the next day I'm staying home...but luckily I have at least a month to decide.
