Family friendly & Budget friendly resort in the Poconos or within 3 hours?
Looking to do a last minute trip with my two year old and husband for 2 days next week. The Six Flags Waterpark Resort and Pinegrove and Rocking Horse Ranch are all out of our budget. Looking for a relatively inexpensive place to stay with an indoor pool and not much else- son is too young for horseback riding, tubing mostly all that stuff. I've been looking for something simple that is kid friendly and budget friendly with no results. Anyone have any recommendations? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I don't have anything specific in mind, but I just wanted to suggest you check out groupon, travelzoo, and living social for some good deals.

If you are just looking for an indoor pool, I would make it a "staycation" and just stay on LI. Everything in a destination area is jacked up triple the price for President's week since the kids are off school.

Thank you ladies! Yes, I've been looking on Groupon and Living Social, Groupon had an AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING deal fro the upstate Six Flags Waterpark resort- for $105 a night (which is usually like 350 a night) and that place is beyond incredible. And then I looked at the available dates- and there were like 3 days in the next two months that you could buy it- and of course not next week, because it was such a great deal, everyone snapped it up. On their site, it was 379 or something a night- searched other sites and the best I could find was 325. Ugh. But for anyone that does want to go at that incredible price and has those specif days open, the link is http://www.groupon.com/deals/ga-bk-six-flags-great-escape-lodge-indoor-waterpark I totally hear you on a staycation- I was able to find a bunch of places on groupon that are either upstate or in the poconos- pretty basic and reasonably priced- with indoor pools (our only mandatory factor) and kid activities- Fernwood is $149 a night, Acra manor is 105 a night, Woodland Inn 115 a night, Hotel Mystic 99 a night, and then a super basic Courtyard in Scranton for 89 a night. As far as a staycation, LI is just so overpriced, they had something in Port Jeff- but its Danfords, which is so not kid friendly and 132 a night and no indoor pool. Even looked at NYC- but obviously, super expensive and no one has an indoor pool. Plus, I would like to get off LI- just psychologically maybe lol,get some distance, as long as its relatively close, Poconos is a pretty short drive. So I am still searching! Thanks for for your input- any one else with input is greatly appreciated!

Fernwood is a dump, their rooms are gross, so I wouldn't even consider going there.
How about a hotel near Sahara Sam's in NJ? It's an indoor waterpark, but they have no hotel attached.

Mystic is good because they also have the aquarium. The Grand Hotel has an indoor pool, and they usually throw a few meals in. It is in Cape May, NJ.

We stayed there before DoubleTree/Hilton took over and it was family owned. Not really sure if anything changed. We loved the place, very nice people, clean grounds and on the grounds themselves other than the indoor pool, there was a playground and a nice walking trail around the pond/over a covered bridge and the restaurant there was decent too. We also walked over the the little farm that was right next door. We visited the Strausburg RR and took an open car train ride.

Re: Family friendly & Budget friendly resort in the Poconos or within 3 hours?
Thats so crazy! After I did all this research and found ten places as options, someone offhand mentioned Valley to me. I looked them up- sooooo inexpensive (normally 104 a night, but 159 for next week) We ultimately decided to go with Daniels on the Mountaintop, which is a very kid-friendly resort type place (155 per night)- while the Valley has an incredible little pool and splash park- Daniels includes breakfast and dinner and tubing and a basic pool, entertainment at night. It just ultimately works out cheaper since meals aren't included at Valley (at least, not for next week, I'm not sure if they normally are) and the tubing was a big draw for my husband. With a check in time of noon and check out of room at 1 but can hang and use all the facilities all day if we want. For a grand total of $350 including tax for 2 nights, all included. It was a little more than we were looking to initially spend- but prices are higher next week, and thats the only time we can go- and it ended up being a pretty good deal! If anyone is looking for a last minute getaway, this is pretty great. Leaving in a few hours- very excited- thank you all for your input. We will definitely be going to Valley in the future- I am in love with their pool/ spraypark!
