Nassau University Hospital?

Anyone delivering there?
I know they were planning a new birth center.
Have they built something already or renovated?
I've heard good things about the midwives who deliver there, but I'm not a fan of the hospital. We went on a tour a couple years ago and I didn't like the delivery or post partum rooms.

Their facebook page has an update on this. The renovation is being done in four phases, of which two phases are complete.

They are starting a new phase on March 1st. I am delivering there, but hoping they start late bc I want the room with the birthing tub to be available, and it will be temporarily not available when they start the next phase. Even with that, the hospital is trying to accomodate the moms who want water birth during that time with temporary tubs. I called the OB Admin when I was worried about not having water birth available, and she was so nice and understanding. My midwife said the new rooms are beautiful, everyone has their own shower, a place for the dad to sleep, etc. Its going to be really nice from what I hear.

But more importantly, their birth stats are some of the best on the island...lowest episiotomy rate, lowest c section rate, etc. And they are very supportive of intervention and drug-free birth. You can walk around, eat, etc. during labor.

My midwife is Dale Cook and she is phenominal...more of a mother-figure. She is so nurturing and kind and I feel great after every appt. If you have any questions, FM me.

Thanks! I wish they had pictures! It sounds like everything but postpartum would be complete for my birth.
