NYC DOE mamas to be
I was on the phone regarding my diabetes testing supplies (I know, I know, but it's only for about 9 weeks tops!) and the representative asked me if I wanted to order my breast pump and was saying that GHI has started covering pumps as part of the affordable care act..definitely something to look into..the company is called Better Living Now and they work with GHI insurance..if I hear more, I will keep posted but I thought it would be useful...

Maybe it's something that started after Jan. 1st? Doesn't hurt to try again just in case!

Re: NYC DOE mamas to be
The big NYC Unions (teachers, PBA) were grandfathered in and do not have to comply with the new ACA rules. GHI may have to cover Breastpumps for other members, but not NYC Union members who have GHI plans. I'm very happy with our GHI (union) plan, despite the fact that I had to pay out of pocket for my pump.
Unless something has changed VERY recently, but I doubt it.

Manual and electric breast pumps are not part of the benefit package under the Family Health Plus plan.
If you work for the city of new york then your grandfathered into a plan

If you call back ask ghi is covering it under the NYC employ plan. They probably are not, but if they are I'm happy for future doe mamas!!!
