Anybody else lose a ton of hair post-partum?

DD is about 4.5 months and I've been losing hair like crazy for about a month. The front part of my head is looking sparse and I'm getting a little upset about it.

I know hair loss is normal after giving birth, but I just want to know it gets better. If you've dealt with this, when would you say that this ended for you?

I think it got to its worst point at about 4-5 months postpartum, and then it gradually stopped. I want to say it was about the 8 month to one year mark where my hair was back to its normal thickness, and not falling out like crazy.

My sister did. She lost a lot. And it just seemed to stop when her son was about 6 months.

Yes, with both kids! It was pretty gross actually

I did. I ended up chopping my hair. It looked so much better when it was on the shorter side.

I went through this. It sux. I felt it would get worse if i let my hair get too dirty without washing it lol... i dont remember when exactly it got better i iust remember it slowed down and down and wasnt as bad anymore.

I also started to deep condition my hair once a week. I dont know if it does anything but it helps to keep it soft and moisturized i also tried to get haircuts (just a trim, i have long hair) ...

Dont worry it gets better and you dont have to chop your hair.

Totally normal. Mine returned to normal around 7 or 8 months pp I think.

Yes, it was awful - with both kids.

I finally chopped my way too long hair about 5 month PP and it has gotten better progressively. But the front looks a little like I took a razor blade to it - very choppy where it's growing back in.

Yes! It lasted about a month, when he was 4-5 months old. It was coming out like crazy! Now it seems to have slowed down.

Me too. I'm almost 6 1/2 mos pp and I swear I'm losing all my hair! It hasn't gotten better and it's been like this probably for a few mos. Hoping it will run its course soon.

yup. when my dc was 3m my hair started falling out like crazy. I would have to empty my brush everyday. it was crazy. I too had sparse spots and short clippings on each side of my head. it stopped falling out I guess around 6-8m but I still had the sparse spots on my head and short pieces lol

Thanks for commiserating with me. I just hope it's over sooner rather than later. My poor vacuum is working overtime these days.

I feel your pain. Hair is falling out like crazy 4.5 months in. I notice it most when i pull it back. More concerned about when it grows in all spikey!!

I was just telling DH this today! It's so gross how it's shedding. It's everywhere. Every time I change DS i am constantly checking for my hairs all over him.

I lost a ton. It was everywhere and when I would take a shower....omg forget it. I had my baby a year ago and believe it or not still loose quite a bit.

Mine was still falling out in clumps when my daughter was two.

Yes. It was gross. Stopped at about 6-7m.

I gained a ton when I was pregnant. I had so much, I couldn't use my hair ties anymore.

Lost it after pregnancy. Clogged my drains a lot.

Now, it's back to normal.

17mos pp and I have these crazy whispies in the front if my head that I have to tame down daily!

A little but I think it's not that bad because I take Biotin, Prenatals, and a few other all-around good vitamins. Try that. HTH!
