Preferring one parent over the other
DD#1 is 21mo and is such a daddy's girl. I love to watch them together. She loves me and we have a bond of course but she tends to give me more attitude and gets upset when daddy has to go to work, has to use the bathroom, or even just goes outside to get the mail. DD#2 is due in April. It sounds petty but does anyone have two kids who prefer the same parent? I know hormones have a lot to do with it but after carrying her, giving birth, breastfeeding and dealing with all that goes with it I feel like I should be getting more perks lol. I want someone to be a mommy's girl.

Re: Preferring one parent over the other
It's a phase and she will change. Believe me. My boys both went through a phase of daddy and now they are both momma's boys. I used to secretly love it, but it's gotten tougher since they are older and on a few nights I've gone out with some girl friends they give daddy a hard time.
More DS1 than DS2. DS2 loves whoever spoils him the most It does hurt, but she will change over and over again.

Re: Preferring one parent over the other
My girls are both daddy girls! The sun rises and sets on their daddy. Dh works m-f long hours so when he is home they are all about their daddy. Some days they cry when he leaves for work and they often ask for him during the day. Daddy gets to be the fun one more than I do. They love me too and when I'm not around for a few hours they come running when they see me. I love that they are daddies girls. I never had that with my dad and I always wished if I had a girl they would be daddy's little girl!

My DC are 7 and 10. It fluctuates year to year, and day to day who their favorite is. Sometimes minute to minute, depending on who just said "No" to their latest request...

Both prefer me... to do everything: from wipe their butts to comb their hair.
I think it is just because I DO it.
But when my mom's around, she's my son's favorite!

My older 2 boys are all about me. They love daddy - but need to be by mommy side. They are getting better. I tease my husband our ds#3 better be attached to him :)

Same here. I can't sleep in, go to the bathroom, take a shower, etc. She resists DH changing or bathing her although she'll usually get over it once he gets her started.
BUT if grandma's around, I don't exist!

For the first 7m it was all about Dh. Right now I'm the favorite and Dh hates it. I keep telling him let me enjoy this because as she gets older it will be all about daddy.

I'm still pregnant but I'm very afraid this will happen to me but with my mom. My mom will be watching him full time when I go back to work and I'm very worried he will prefer her over me :(

Re: Preferring one parent over the other
DD is definitely daddy's little girl but I get lots of love too. My mom is going to start watching her and I know grandma will be getting her fair share soon.
One of the best things I've heard from a friend with a toddler is they prefer the parent they're not with. That's actually really helped me.

Re: Preferring one parent over the other
Generally speaking, DD and DS usually want me more during the week and then on weekends when Daddy is home all day with us he becomes their favorite.
During the week it's a little more of "out of sight, out of mind" and being that I'm home with them I do everything so they tend to gravitate towards me. But as soon as DH is with us, they can't get enough of him. I think it's really sweet and we both get a chance to be the favorite.
I think it's totally normal for kids to go through phases where they favor one person or parent over another.
