What do you look for in a daycare?
I am starting to look into daycare for next fall. I may have one offered through my employer but in case it doesn't work out I am exploring options. We went to one today and there were some things I liked a lot and some things I didn't. So I'm wondering what others looked for when choosing a daycare?

Before anything, I'd look them up on OCFS to see if they have any outstanding violations and if they had any violations recently. Something silly and fixable, I'd overlook. Something serious - like failure to perform background checks, unsupervised children, or something safety related etc. would be a major NO NO.

Honestly.....I just knew when I walked into the daycare we send DS to. We had looked at a bunch others and some of them for fine and I probably would have sent him to one of them if I didn't find the place he is in.
I never had to ask questions....they told me everything I needed to know and it just felt like home. And 2 years later it is a 2nd home for him. His teachers are an extended family. His infant teacher moved to FL and we still keep in touch.

Thanks. I'm thinking that will be the case.

This. I just knew. And 3.5 years later it is still the best decision I ever made. I knew when I was able to drop off my infant DD and never give her care a second thought. It felt like I was leaving her with a family member. I trusted them that much.

Same as above. My 9m old has been to hers since 12w and they are extended family. They love her and really know her. We knew within the first 5 minutes.
