How early can you start whole milk?
I think I need to stop pumping in about 3 weeks - DD will be almost 10 months. I will have enough in the freezer to get her to about 10 1/2 months. Is that too early to start mixing BM with whole milk in her bottles? Thanks!

Re: How early can you start whole milk?
I just started with DS a few weeks ago when he turned 10 months. He is HATING formula and bottle the last few months so I thought it was a good time to start to make the switch. He eats enough table food now so he doesn't need the formula like he use to.
So far he's doing fine with the milk.

I think it depends how much table food she's eating to be sure she's getting the proper nutrients. If she's not eating much, whole milk won't be a proper substitute for BM/formula.

Thanks everyone. We go to the ped in 2 weeks, so I will ask her then. And to clarify, I still plan on nursing her in the morning and at night (she still gets up 3-4 times a night to nurse), so I would just stop giving BM while I am at work.

Lol. It is not easy! But we miss each other while I am gone all day, so that is our bonding time!

Re: How early can you start whole milk?
As per our ped, we started transitioning both our boys at 12 months. My second had a little whole milk a couple of times around 11.5 months or so.

I waited until DS was 12 months to start WM; although my ped gave the go ahead at the 11 month appointment.
I BF; and it took him a WHOLE month of mixing BM& Whole cowl milk for him to finally take a bottle of straight WCM. I thought I was going to be done with pumping once he started milk but he just wouldn't drink it. I still had ot pump at work those days to get the milk to mix. Just telling you my story so you know you might have to pump a little longer if she doesn't take the milk. I also nurse in the AM & PM and when he wakes up at night. Also sometimes as much as 2-3x. Idk if the nursing was throwing off the WM during the day? he maybe preferred the taste of the BM? Who knows...but at 13 1/2 months now I can send him with WCM at daycare and still nurse in the AM & pm
