One 12oz Can of Formula - How Long Does it Last?

Sorry for all the CLEARLY FTM questions today, but I can't seem to find this anywhere. If I purchase a 12oz can of formula for a newborn, how long can I expect that to last? I know every baby is different - but I am thinking of starting with a 6 pack of 12oz cans and am wondering if that is enough for the first few weeks. I may BF also but I don't want to be relying on that just in case it doesn't work out. TIA!

Not sure the answer to your question but I don't think I'd stock up on something like formula until you know how your baby will react. Many babies go through several types of formula.

It varies but when my DS was home from the hospital he was taking about 3 oz every 3 hours so a 12oz can of ready to feed would't last long.

And nope I wouldn't stock up. My DS was on 3 different formulas before we found one that works and you CANNOT return it.

Newborns eat very little very often in the beginning. Def do not stock up. Sometimes you have to go through a few formulas before one agrees with them.

I actually was able to return it though. I bought a bunch of similac sensitive and had to bring it back for alimentum. Babies r us will take it back but buy buy baby won't

Don't bother stocking up since you have no idea what will work just yet. The hospital will provide formula while you are there and they usually will send you home with some as well.

It might last you 24-48 hrs in the begining, depeinding on how much your LO is eating, but once you open the can its only good for 48 hrs in the fridge.
