Am I Packing too many clothes for Hospital?
packing my hospital bag & i think I'm over doing it.
besides toiletries & slippers & gadgets.... i'm bringing 2 pj sets for me, 2 robes (one light & one warm), and an outfit to come back home in.
and for my , i'm bringing 2 side snap t-shirts with the built in mittens, 2 newborn sleepers, and her coming home outfit - plus the sherpa bunting to go over her outfit when we leave. 2 pairs of socks & burp cloth.
i've only done this once before, about 4 years ago, with my and zero recollection...
is that too many clothes?

No i dont think so. I didnt bring any clothes for the baby tho. She stayed in the snap onesies the hospital gave us until we went home.

Same with me. DS was in a side snap onesie and swaddled while at the hospital. I only brought an outfit to take him home in. It's your preference, if you plan on dressing your LO while there then bring the clothes. I would probably bring one robe, only since they are heavy and take up room. But again, personal preference.

Re: Am I Packing too many clothes for Hospital?
i totally feel like i'm overpacking. my big comfy robe takes up like half of a carryon, so i am not sure how to pack the rest without upgrading to the larger suitcase...which DH doesnt want to do.
for me: granny undies, velour pant suit for going home, nursing tanks and bras, 2 pajamas, flip flops for shower and slippers for walking
not sure if i should also pack socks?
for baby: i have 2 sidesnaps, 2 sleepers (one NB size, and one 0-3mo size), hat, car seat cover, blanket, burp cloths/blankets (mainly because i dont want people holding the baby on their dirty clothes, but i realize this may not be necessary). i also want to take the boppy and a bag of snacks. but i dont know where im putting all this stuff!
i also need to pack for DH since he will be staying over. but he is easy and will just wear t-shirts and bball shorts most of the time probably.

i almost forgot the flip flops & towel! thank you.
now that you guys mention it, i do remember just the side snaps & swaddled blankies. i will have a lot more room if i left all that other stuff home.
i am packing socks. definitely socks. my feet get cold.
probably going to end up with a small suitcase.
not sure how dh staying with me is going to work out. how does it work when you have a kid at home? i'm imagining him leaving to be with our boy at night.

Honestly - if you have the room, why not bring it? I tend to like to have more than I really need so that I'm not saying, I wish I had something.
Maybe bring some of those comfy cozy socks in case your feet get cold. DD was born in June, so i don't recall needing them, but you may in the winter!!

This. I wouldn't bother with any clothes for the baby except for the take home outfit.

Re: Am I Packing too many clothes for Hospital?
Your clothes are fine. You only need one robe though IMO.
I never packed any clothes for the baby othe then the coming home outfit. They put then in the little snap shirts with built in mittens. They give you a hat and wrap them in blankets. They don't need anything else. But I know some people like to put baby in their own clothes. They are constantly being examined so it's just easier .

I would only pack one robe. You may want to consider packing an extra Pair of PJ's just incase you are bleeding very heavily. I always tend to over pack because I would rather have too much than too little.

I also packed snacks for dh and myself. The second I pushed her out he fed me a fruit cup. The nurses were too busy with me and the baby to grab me something and I was starving. Dh munched on stuff while I was in labor since I would not allow him to leave the room.

Re: Am I Packing too many clothes for Hospital?
you don't need anything for the baby.. and the baby shouldn't be wearing a bunting in the carseat. I used one of those shower cap style covers for my winter babies. Keeps them nice and warm without compromising safety.
Honestly the most important thing in my hospital bag is snacks lol.

Re: Am I Packing too many clothes for Hospital?
Have 2 coming home outfits just in case baby spits up. My 3rd ds didn't even have the outfit closed and he spit up everywhere. He didn't spit up at all in the hospital until then.
Baby doesn't need any clothes in hospital and one robe is sufficient for you.

oh, it's not a thick bunting like that. it's more like a sherpa sleeper with a hood.
good idea on the back up coming home outfit!
but the robe....i don't know if the warm one will be too much. and if the light one won't be enough. they are short, so they won't take up too much room.

Re: Am I Packing too many clothes for Hospital?
I just brought the coming home outfit or the babies. The hospital had long sleeve tees for them.
I had a cs and was there longer. 4 yoga pants, 4 shirts, socks, underwear, toiletries, etc. I wore their slipper socks but wished I had a cheap pair of slippers. Never did a robe b/c they have extra blankets. I had the boppy for baby too. I used their towels b/c it's just for a few days.

I would leave a separate bag with babies stuff in the carseat in the car then have DH bring it up when you are going home.

Re: Am I Packing too many clothes for Hospital?
Is DH staying with you the whole time? I found that half the stuff I packed was useless. I had 2 pairs of pajamas, but had a c section and needed nightgowns. It was also so hot, I was sweating every night so my mom or DH came with new clothes every day. I also planned to be home in 2 days, but stayed for 5 due to complications with c section.
Pack what you think you'll need, but chances are you might want to have someone bring other stuff while you are there. So, make sure there is a little extra room in your bag for misc things you might need along the stay.
You might also want to consider a boppy pillow and pacifiers if you think you might use them.
