Baby nurse info needed
I have a friend who is due next month. She is considering getting a nurse and doesn't know where to start. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just curious...what does a baby nurse do? How long do you use them for? Are they actual nurses like a RN or LPN?

Honestly I can't recall if they are all rn or not. I believe the one I had was. They help care for the baby - we had one arrive the day I got home from the hospital. If it wasn't for her I would have quit breast feeding night 1! She teaches you how to care for the baby (bathing them, changing them etc). They do anything baby related including their laundry and she helped us set up the nursery and go through clothing. Since I was bfing I had to get up for all feedings but if you bottle feed they will do some of the feedings for you so you can rest. It's 100% not necessary to have - but a few family members gave it to us as a gift and as first time parents it was the best gift we received! Yes I'm sure we would have figured it all out but I guess the best way to say it was that i felt safe with her around. My dad lives oos and my mom couldn't take time off of work so we would have been alone.
