Spinoff to crib: Baby moving in the crib

I know babies move and it will only continue to happen, but now that DS is in his crib full time he scoots all the way down and bashes his legs against the rails (he is swaddled) and I am just getting nervous. He moves like crazy, turning sideways and doing a 180!

Any tips or tricks to keep me from watching the monitor all night?

We don't use bumpers, BTW.

I turned the sound off...it was the only way i could get some sleep
when dd cries she is loud enough that i hear her...but i didnt need to hear her moving around all night - it was exhausting!

If he's moving that much it's time to ditch the swaddle. He needs to be able to move freely and being swaddled is not helping him and only keeping you awake. Try it and he might be a less restless sleeper. Especially if he flips by accident, he needs his hands to be able to push up if needed.

We have only been swaddling a few weeks and it definitely helps, but I can swaddle so his arms are free which I will do.

He is not rolling yet.

It's pretty typical. You'll just get used to it and stop worrying so much. There really isn't anything you can do.

Maybe try switching to a sleep sack so that you're not worried about him unswaddling and then having a loose blanket in the crib. DD used to twist and do 180's in her bassinet at a few week old not to mention picking up her legs and slamming them over the side. We moved her to the crib once that started (by 8 weeks) and didn't have a video monitor at the time. I would say, just make sure he's safe and turn off the video!

Its only going to get worse. It sounds way worse than it actually is. DS bumped into the sides so much and so hard it would feel like he was coming through floor. He never once was hurt from all the rolling.

I use breathable bumpers... My dd moves a ton. I lowered the volume a bit. Sometimes I will still wake up if I hear a lot of movement. I will look at monitor and roll back over and right back to sleep.

You just learn to get used to it and not feel so paranoid. Its like anything else it becomes second nature... BUT talk to any mom they will tell you, you will never sleep like you did pre kids ever. even when your deep asleep its like you have 1 ear open LOL
