Valentine's day is for DH and I.

DH cooks a steak because going out is crazy.

The kids share in the spoils.

I have so many questions regarding Valentine's Day.

1. How do you make the day special for your LO?
I give them a card, stickers and the super small box of chocolates.
2. Any arts and crafts ideas for an 18 month old to do?
You can paint their hands and then have them form a heart.

With model magic you can help them roll it into a snake then help them coil it and then mold that into a heart.

3. What do you get DH from LO? any ideas appreciated.
The items in number 1 are from both DH and I.

4. What do you do with DH for dinner that night?
I usually make fillet mingone.

Re: Many Valentines Day Related Questions

I have heart shirts for them. I have an Elmo book I bought at Christmas and saved. I'm ordering a toy that I would have gotten anyway. We give them a card and dh and I get cards for each other from them. I might make cupcakes or something and they can have a taste. (They usually don't get sweets)

Dh And I will probably share a box of chocolate. Get cards. Make shrimp and pasta. Nothing big. We are going out the week before for his birthday.

1. How do you make the day special for your LO?
Not much. I have a Vday book I got for pennies at a store closing that I'm hoping I remember to give her. We may bake heart shaped sugar cookies.

2. Any arts and crafts ideas for an 18 month old to do? I'm hoping the library will do something. Last year they painted footprints in the shape of a heart with a cute poem attached.

3. What do you get DH from LO? any ideas appreciated. Maybe a card, if not nothing

4. What do you do with DH for dinner that night? We usually go out the weekend after so I'll just cook something. We do cheese and chocolate fondue sometimes. Maybe the omaha steaks we have in the freezer.

DD is still very young, but ideas for the future.

1. How do you make the day special for your LO? Crafts, baking together, small treats/gifts.
2. Any arts and crafts ideas for an 18 month old to do? How about cutting paper hearts out of construction paper and decorating with glitter, etc. Also, hand and footprint painting and then it becomes a keepsake. Check Pinterest too.
3. What do you get DH from LO? any ideas appreciated. Maybe some candy.
4. What do you do with DH for dinner that night? I will be returning from a work trip (second year in a row, grr) so we will just eat at home. That would've been the case anyway with a 6 mo old and it being a Friday.

1. How do you make the day special for your LO?
I got him a couple valentine chocolates, I might get him one more little toy or something. Last year we had red velvet pancakes for dinner, and he helped me make chocolate covered strawberries to have for dessert.

2. Any arts and crafts ideas for an 18 month old to do?
hmm... well my DS is 3, and he LOVES those foam stickers shapes you can get at michaels or AC Moore. so last year I got some valentine themed ones. I just folded a piece of paper, let him stick a bunch of those on there and turned it into a card for the grandparents. SO SO Easy and they LOVED it Chat Icon

3. What do you get DH from LO? any ideas appreciated.
probably just a card, maybe candy or a little treat like that.

4. What do you do with DH for dinner that night? we don't go out that night- way too crazy!! last year, we didn't do anything just the 2 of us, and that was fine, I didn't care. but this year my sister actually offered to babysit this weekend, so we're gonna turn that into our nice "valentines" dinner at Ruth's Chris.

I always decorate the whole kitchen with hearts, balloons, streamers and other Valentine things. We have dinner and dessert on special, Valentine themed plates with coordinating napkins and cups and I set the table all fancy. I get DH and the kids a Russel Stover heart filled with chocolates as well as a small gift and a card. I also make a special dinner, something yummy like steaks or an Italian dish and of course, a special dessert.

It's not the most romantic night but I love making it special for the kids and we have a nice time together as a family. My parents use to do the same thing for my siblings and I as kids and we always loved it. Who says Valentines a Day is just for couples?? lol

ETA - DH and I will usually go out together the weekend before or after for a romantic dinner somewhere nice and my parents watch the kids for us.

1. How do you make the day special for your LO?
Nothing too much. She will wear an outfit with hearts on it, and we will give her a card and a book or stuffed animal.

2. Any arts and crafts ideas for an 18 month old to do?
Not in my house. That's what daycare is for. Chat Icon

3. What do you get DH from LO? any ideas appreciated.
Just a card. DH forgot to get one from DD to me last year...let's see if he remembers this time!

4. What do you do with DH for dinner that night?
DH and I have gone to the same restaurant in the city for the past 10+ years. We may not actually go on vday now that we have DD, but hopefully we will get to go that weekend, once babysitting is arranged. If we don't go on V-day, I will just cook a good dinner.

Eta : I meant in response to Hofstra's post. I'll use any excuse I can to decorate and get balloons. My kids love it. Dh and I go out that following weekend usually when we can get a babysitter. Chat Icon

Are you kidding me, I love this.Chat Icon

Now im going to have to do something like this! Thanks for giving me work to do (Chat Icon j/k). This is such a cute idea.

When DS was younger, I would get him a Special Valentines shirt and buy balloons and chocolate. I also buy something for my nieces. Arts and crafts would be done at his daycare. We usually go out to dinner as a family.

You can decorate a heart shape card with your DD and maybe put her handprint on it. You can give that to DH with a little gift. Maybe get a shirt for her that says "Daddy's Little Valentine"

I love this. My mom also made each holiday special for us, including V day, so I plan to at least do a little something every year for them.

For the OP, my daycare provider is great about doing cute holiday projects so I'm sure DS will do something there. I have cute outfits for him & the baby. I'll get them each a little something, prob a magic ink book for him & a stuffed animal for her. I'll get a card for DH from them & a gift from all 3 of us, nothing expensive just something sports related from the gadgets store at the mall. And for dinner I was thinking of staying home that night & going out w DH another night. :)

Re: Many Valentines Day Related Questions

Well for us, it's different because it's my husband's birthday. Last year we spent the day baking cupcakes for Daddy's birthday. She loved it. We made him a card.

Im sure if you look on Pinterest there are lots of arts and crafts idea. I took her to a Mommy and Me place last year and they did an arts and craft Valentines day project.

I usually make my husband one of his favorite dinners (again it's his bday)...lobster and steak and mashed potatoes.

I could care less about Valentine's day, so it's all about Daddy's birthday at our house.
