Dance programs for toddlers that don't have recitals?
Do these exist? I'd like to put DD (2.5) in dance this spring/summer...(so she'll be 3). I just want her to dance and have fun w/o having to deal with a recital. I'd also like something where you pay monthly or for a specific session, and are not required to keep going for the year.

Are you Town of Brookhaven? If so, they have a dance for tots program. Cheap and no recital. The Ballet Center in Ronkonkoma is recital optional.

I believe most dance schools-you can pay monthly and you can opt out of the dance recital (this has been my experience at 2 schools) I would think other schools are similar---

This doesn't really answer your question, but just in response to some replies... Even if you choose a place that allows you the option of participating in the recital, many places take time out of the lesson (esp. toward the end of the season) for rehearsing. So, by a few weeks before the recital, you may only get a short lesson in.

I'm book marking this.
I just don't want to start her in real dance yet... I don't want the competition, and the dance moms, and the school trying to suck you in for every class/program etc. I'd rather start with something casual to see if she even likes it.
I've seen family members get sucked into this entire dance mentality and that's just not for me ( unless DD REALLY loves it and when she's older!)

Here is the flyer. FYI they don't update the rec guide ever. You have to call them or look on FB for the info.

Guess Brooklyn is too far for you? lol. DD's class (3-4 year olds) does not participate in a recital. It's just more for them to have fun, wear tutus/ballet shoes/tap shoes, learn the moves, get some exercise etc. It's adorable...but I'm glad I don't have to sit through hours long recitals just yet.

Yeah, BKLYN is too far! But that sounds like exactly what I'm looking for!
