Okay... may have a change of plans, need alternatives to cruising...
So someone in the group is alittle nervous about cruising (never cruised before) due to the recent norovirus outbreak on hte Explorer (I think this was the ship).
I think he will be swayed bc illness can happen anytime. My DH got really ill (food poisoning?) in Aruba, made for a really horrible last day where he was literally curled up in the corner at hte airport as our plane was delayed. Anyhow...
I am at a blank for a family trip that will keep a 75yo entertained and yet have stuff for a 3 yo too!
Heres the group 6 Adults (75-35 yo some are VERY active types) 5 kids ages 12, 9 , 7, 6, 3. No Disney......And not just a beach vacation with nothing else, None of us are sit on the beach for 5 days types.....
Any ideas are appreciated!!!
THANKS

What about New Orleans? We just went there last October and it was fantastic.

I have never been but I have heard there is a lot to do at Woodloch Pines.
Or also many look into an AI resort that has kids activities.
Also growing up my extended family used to always take trips to Myrtle Beach (I still do now) but there's stuff to do for everyone not just the beach.

I've been on a ship with a Norovirus outbreak, and no one in our group got sick. It can happen, or it won't happen. It won't sway my group from cruising again.
Common sense prevails. Wash hands frequently - I do that rather than use Purell, which does nothing for Norovirus. Wash before and after meals.
Use knuckles for the elevator buttons. I try to avoid using handrails. I prefer using my stateroom's bathroom, try to limit my use of the public ones.

I am with you 100%.
But I am not going to argue with someone to convince them of the same. So we will see.....

It is difficult to please everyone, I understand.
Gastrointestinal illness is more common than one thinks. Not every case is reported to the public, although it must be reported to the maritime authorities.
This one was strange because it hit within 24 hours of leaving NJ. And it became public knowledge because so many people got sick.

IMO for a group it's easiest to do an all inclusive - How about something like Woodloch?
Or Atlantis if you do want the beach?
Or even Hilton Head?

Friends of ours that had just gotten back got sick so I believe the ship had been infected prior to boarding new passengers..
To the OP, maybe Myrtle Beach. My mom recently went and had a great trip. They stayed at the North Beach Plantation.
