car seats in other countries
a friend who lives in england posted a photo of her 2 month old in her car seat and it looked so unsafe - there was no chest clip, it looked like there was nothing keeping the baby in the car seat the way the straps went. A few of us Americans commented on it and another Brit responded that supposedly their research shows that having the chest clip is unsafe...
I was really surprised how different infant car seats could be between our two countries.

There are certain car seats that don't need a chest clip. It depends on the manufacturer. I was surprised as well.

The designs of car seats vary from some countries to ours. The purpose of the chest clip is to make sure that the straps are positioned properly for pre-crash conditions. That said. depending on the position of the top strap and the closeness of the straps to the neck, chest clips can be unnecessary.
